threadjackistan: Man On Pink Corner: threadjackistan: Man On Pink Corner: (Shrug) To those who understand, no explanation is necessary.  To those who don't, no explanation is possible.

This wasnt a farking original Model-T.

Correct, it was one hell of a lot rarer and more influential.

More influential, because this car mechanized America, right? This Lamborghini was the first car that the average person could afford to buy? I'm sorry, how can a Lamborghini ever be influential as far as anyone is concerned. It's a tiny little niche thing. It will never influence the world. Lamborghini isnt Saab, Saab influences the with their fighter aircraft and light attack munition manufacturing. Saab doesnt even make cars anymore.

Lamborghini makes cars for the super rich. That is about it. If they make IFVs of any-sort I'll withdrawal my argument of their insignificance. But what worth does a sports car have?

sad because it's an old irreplaceable car? sad because the horn going off is like the car was crying? sad because the fire department is clearly slow at responding?  None of the above, it's a car.. guy that owns it is rich, should have probably had it maintained better... and I'm sure he can afford another one.

Greydog: The cretin count is really high in this thread.
Why is an obvious work of art being discounted as a "toy" or worse, a "who gives a shiat" piece of automotive history.
My simple mind can't wrap itself around how people can witness the demise of any classic car,  or any other treasure with "meh".
I'm getting too old for this shiat...........cretins.

If a cretin drives his "work of art" on the street, take your lumps.
If that cretin is so stupid as to not repair a known fire risk while flaunting his/her stupidity, so be it.
A "work of art" belongs in a museum, not on the street.
Take it to the street, why?
To show off to the 99% that they are somehow deficient.

Burn baby, burn!

Lizardking: I feel bad for anyone who cant understand what a loss this is. You dont even have to like Lamborghinis to get it but all these "How is this a big loss again?" people just make me sad.

It must really suck not having a soul.

It was lost when the asshat bought it.

Insurance scam.

Beautiful cars.  A friend's dad had one when I was in high school.  I wouldn't get anywhere near it.

Seeing orangutans cling to the last tree in the forest as bulldozers plow down their home = top sad thing I've seen today
Seeing a dog waiting in his owners truck every day since he died = also top sad thing I've seen today, pretty much tied

Seeing a rich guys penis implant burn? Yeah, not even a sniffle or emotion. More like a "wow, dude, sucks to be you until you buy another implant, huh?"

Jealousy also destroys souls. It just takes a little longer

antisocialworker: Why could Lamborghini make such beautiful machines 44 years ago, but today they crap out some of the ugliest cars on the planet?

Compare this:

to this:

WTF?

Hot like a self-immolating supercar.

StopLurkListen: Never heard of the car, nor care about rich guys losing their toys, but I understand how some people prefer to own and drive a piece of history, rather than put it on jack stands in a museum even at the risk of something bad happening to it.

I also enjoy seeing the rare cars, either on the street or on jack stands in a museum.

More rare car pics please. Thanks!

i'm rather fond of this

couldn't find my fav pic of jezza staring at an orange one in a hanger - looked better

As Jay Leno advises, with an older car, it's a good idea to install battery disconnect switch, because older wires lose their insulation, leading to shorts, which lead to fires.

Asa Phelps: you mean to say that the people who have these are so fanatic about originality that they would refuse to upgrade the carburetor?

In all fairness, part of the value of the car is the originality.  You could put four new Holly's in it, but that's like slapping a Wankel engine on the Wright Flyer.

Why are cars that cost so much built so shiatty?

threadjackistan: HotWingAgenda: threadjackistan: Awww, a rich person had their easily replaceable automobile catch on fire?

I should care because?

If I saw a jet black '81 Corvette burning down, I would start crying hysterically.

Why?

Because television and print media told you to?
Why does a certain brand of car matter so much to you?

Because it would be the loss of a great parts car. Once they burn there isn't much left to reuse as something worthwhile.
