Not a single farking person watching that could conjure up a fire extinguisher?

Actually, if i owned an historic Lamborghini with known fire issues, I'd keep a damn extinguisher in the farking car.

The lawsuit is going to be nasty.

Ferrari has a patent on and been the leader in automotive self-immolation.  Clearly, Lamborghini is infringing on that IP.

I watched a Ferrari F40 burn to the frame at a track day. Tires were too cold and lost traction in a turn; spun and hit the wall in just the right way and caught on fire. $400,000 up in smoke. Both people in the car got out, one with a minor burn.

Go to 3:20 to see why these things like to go up  in flames.

Please explain to me how it isnt easly replaceable. Did it get exceptional gas mileage? Did it have a unique cargo capacity? It what sense is this automobile difficult to replace? Perhapse if had a specialized medical suite in the trunk I might be able to understand.

But I suspect that this was just a rare pokemon car for the super rich. And that it is about as difficult to replace as my old Desert Storm trading cards? What irreplaceable economic function does it provide? Or am I right? Is this just a poor little super rich man lost his toy?

Why does a certain brand of car matter so much to you?

Less than 800 were built over five years, and it is historically significant as not only the fastest production road car of its time but also one of the first examples of a mid-engined high performance vehicle.

The first Apple Macintosh isn't exceptional as a computer, but it is historically significant and not easily replaceable.  If you don't understand this then you're either being deliberately obtuse or you're a damned idiot.

The Miura isn't as significant as this car:

img547.imageshack.us

But it's still way up there.  It's museum worthy, so losing one is a substantial hit.

Abe Lincoln's boyhood home was a shiatty log cabin in the middle of nowhere, Kentucky.  Based on your criteria it wouldn't be a big loss if it caught on fire and burned to the ground, either, because your new house has better insulation.

This is the original concept for the crazy supercar. Yeah, a 1%'er lost his hotwheel. But this is like something that people that love supercars and car history see as sad as well. It isn't yet another f430 on fire because some lottery winner didn't know how to handle the horsepower.

I really doubt this thing can be rebuilt as the aluminum bodies are not exactly robust.

Because it was one of the most beautiful cars ever made, and this jackass didn't properly maintain it or keep a fire extinguisher in it.

There were only 148 of these made. They were only made between 1971 and 1973. How many do you think still exist?

This one, in particular, may have been the very last one in the UK.

The mainstream media actually doesn't care very much about '81 Corvettes, and neither do a lot of gearheads, because nothing after '78 "counts" as a Stingray.  It's just a beautiful piece of automotive design, and at this point extremely difficult to replace because THEY ARE NOT MAKING NEW ONES.

If you don't care, don't care. But when you act petulantly because other people value something that you don't, and go out of your way to flaunt your ignorance and lack of perceptiveness as if it is something to be proud of, that looks less like apathy and more like childishness.

More influential, because this car mechanized America, right? This Lamborghini was the first car that the average person could afford to buy? I'm sorry, how can a Lamborghini ever be influential as far as anyone is concerned. It's a tiny little niche thing. It will never influence the world. Lamborghini isnt Saab, Saab influences the with their fighter aircraft and light attack munition manufacturing. Saab doesnt even make cars anymore.

Lamborghini makes cars for the super rich. That is about it. If they make IFVs of any-sort I'll withdrawal my argument of their insignificance. But what worth does a sports car have?

I need to get rid of this Purina Troll Chow before it expires, so here goes: nothing about the Model T has any influence on anything built today.  Even in its day there was nothing very special or interesting about the Model T except for the production advances that made it cheap enough to sell in large quantities.

The Miura's mid-engine design was rare and unconventional in a street car at the time.  It influenced the design of numerous sports cars from the Dino and at least a half-dozen later Ferrari models to the Bertone X1/9 and its spiritual successor, the Toyota MR-2.  You can still see some of its design cues in the current Porsche Boxster and Subaru BR-Z.  It was more than just a pissing contest between Ferruchio Lamborghini and Enzo Ferrari -- it was and still is regarded as one of the most beautiful automobiles ever produced.

This particular one deserved a better owner and/or mechanic, safe to say.

Technology trickles down over time to consumer cars.  Your Subaru, Ford, whatever, has a nice computer controlled fuel injected aluminum block engine, a good solid frame, good tires, and a good suspension because that stuff was often first made for sports and racing cars, then adopted for the average consumer.

the cause of the fire is simple

jackoffs trying to keep everything they can original and not even having a CLUE how much a two-cell integrated extinguisher is worth in insurance discounts

Nice Halon and CO2+bicarb would have nipped that in the bud and a couple gunshots to the head would have gotten the fire truck through long before there was permanent body damage...
