I get a variety of wrong-number calls and texts.  One lady thought I was her son.  Texted me to "bring over a basket" of some sort.  Another sent me pics of a new baby. United Health Care's AVR system called asking for some Hispanic guy.  Among the response options was, "Wrong number" so I guess it happens regularly.

If that's not a big old red flag, ive never seen one.

How are you supposed to find out if a cop wants to buy drugs unless you ask?

I had a close to pizza number for a while. A couple of times I took the order, just for fun, and then had a Chinese food place deliver 20 egg rolls.

Sounds like uncontrolled attempted delivery of substances would be a more appropriate charge.

My best wrong number happened a few years ago, I was in bed reading when the phone rang, I looked at the clock and wondered who would be calling me at 2 AM, it was a woman, obviously drunk, asking for Wayne, I told her she had the wrong number and hung up, not 3 minutes later the phone rings again, this time I look at the caller ID, it says "Brenda Sxxxxx" the same as the last call, I answer and sure enough "is Wayne there?" I tell her wrong number again and hang up, about 5 minutes pass and the drunk wench calls me back, this time I answer "Look Brenda, Wayne isn't here" there is a pause then "how did you know who I wanted" then another pause and a considerably sober "How do you know who I am" at this I do my best Hannibal Lecter impersonation " I know all about you Brenda, You are all alone tonight aren't you Brenda, Would you like some company tonight Brenda?" at that I hear a squeak and she hangs up never to call again.

/The book I was reading was "work hard and be nice to people" it was tripe anyway.

You live in Oregon and don't know where it is? Well, take a look out the window and that's about where. But it's north of California and south of Washington, if that helps any.

CSB:

I got my first cellphone when I was living in Edmonds, north of Seattle, so my phone number was from there. Soon after, I moved to San Diego, but kept my number the same. At some point I got a phone call from some guy asking "is Jennifer there?"I told him he had the wrong number and he was like "sorry, bro". Anyway, I started getting calls from him about once a day, asking if Jennifer was there. Apparently my number was just a digit off from that of the legendary Jennifer, and this brick head was too much of a dumbass to get it right. The worst part was that he usually called around 1 or 2 AM. Finally, once when he called I said "look, I did some investigating and traced back where you live. I know it is hard to get the number right, but if you ever call me again I am going to burn your house down". He never once called me again. I was bluffing of course, considering that I lived several thousand miles from him, but apparently it had quite the impact.

Jesus Christ, your commas as ending punctuation. Please stop that.  Also, the Hannibal Lector voice will forever be an effective way of creeping people out... even if it's 50 years from now.  I love answering the phone 'Hello Clarise', even if it's a dude.

Officers searched Cochran and found methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Something is kinda fishy about this. If she had meth, pot and phamies, what the hell is she looking? Don't tweekers have to run out before they start texting strangers for more?

That is sad for Kathy Griffen, since all the other celebrities usually get mentioned by TMZ for this kind of thing.  They just ignore her.

csb:  My cell has a NC number and it used to belong to a guy with the same first name down in that area.  I got so many text and phone messages for the guy that I knew all about his work life and about half his friends.  I also got the kind of NSFW text messages requiring eye bleach.  His college alums have a twisted sense of humor, a little like Fark.  Anyway, one day during winter I decided to reply to an invitation to meet up at a bar & grill by turning them down.  When pressed for why, I told them that it would be impossible to get their in less than a day since I moved to MI.  It worked well because it turned out they hadn't seen their friend in a while and was trying to catch up.  I don't know if he ever found out otherwise, but eventually they all got the hint that the number was no longer his.

I had a one off  of a phone belonging to a nursing station, critical care at a local hospital.  It was really easy to be nice the first few times.  It was harder to as time went on.  I really wanted to start telling people that the patient had died.  As an older me, I am very happy I never did that.

Now I get calls from someone that is being hounded by bill collectors and such.  And one dude that bought something on eBay and had not received it.  I want to track that bastard down and give him up to his creditors.

Also,"Hello? Debbie? Yeah, Debbie's here, who's this? Well, Ralph, uh, Debbie can't talk right now, my dick's in her mouth. How about if I have her call you back later when I'm done? "...."I love wrong numbers."

I have a google voice number linked to a random town in Oregon where druggies periodically leave messages begging to score from me. *facepalm*  i dont know the town well or anyone in it so needless to say I dont monitor the number. I just see the occasional idiotic voice transcripts in my backup email inbox.

If I had more patience or interest, I would mess with those people.

Someone mistakenly texted me and asked why I was late for their pyramid scheme company meeting. I told him this was the wrong number and he started selling me on the thing, so I started selling him on Islam. Shut him up pretty quickly.

As part of my job, I have a company issued cel phone. I frequently get calls and texts for someone named Jenny, and I've repeatedly informed her extended family that the number is a company phone, but they're persistent. Also, oddly enough, I frequently get calls asking if I'll accept charges from some women's prison. I've been very tempted to take that call a time or two, just for the lulz.

Sorry. It was 1 AM and I was feeling no pain. I will try to do better net time. I was just glad my post was intelligible. it might not have been if I had drank a little more. I will endeavor to live up to your high expectations of my syntax and punctuation skills next time.
