Is there a point to counting the number of times the president parts golf?

Do people really think he stops working when he's on "vacation"?

Playing golf while the entire country is burning, civilization is crumbling and there is mass starvation? I hear they're going to be cutting off the water and electr

He should be doing something 'murican, like clearing brush off his ranch.

This.  I want the President to be able to occasionally do something he likes to do to relax just a tiny bit.  It's by far the most stressful job in the world.  George W. Bush sucked  and was one of the worst Presidents ever, but him going to his "ranch" occasionally wasn't really a big deal to me.

This is the first nice weekend we have had in the area, can't blame him.

FlashHarry: it's true. no republican presidents ever played golf.

Well, they did, but only after they were done with the serious work: clearing brush.

Butcher of DC has a nice ring to it.

Oh.  no.  Wait.  Let me try this again.

"It's not surprising that they'd criticize, conservatives have never been big fans of foreplay"

Hmm, I wonder if there were any Fark articles about Bush playing golf or vacationing...  I'm sure they weren't as sarcastic as this one.

He is the ultimate troll. Watch the "Conservative" outrage over something so stupid. He knows what he's doing and it's hilarious.

Meanwhile, those same idiots said nothing when Bush did the same even as the War in Iraq went south and Americans were killed daily.

What's the official count now?  Is this 116th or the 117th round?

Why isn't the auto response to this asshatery "Now watch this drive" instead of clearing brush?

It's almost like there's a a difference between the two

Oh, wait, there is. About 900 days.

2013-04-06 07:47:17 PM
How DARE he take a couple of hours to play golf...despite the fact that he could still do his job and probably was while he was doing it.  And despite the fact that he is on the job 24/7/365.  It's completely irresponsible and I felt entirely unsafe for those few hours.

Hillbilly Jim: Why isn't the auto response to this asshatery "Now watch this drive" instead of clearing brush?

"Now watch this drive" was an example of Bush's ambivalence toward terrorism in particular and his job in general. Using it sarcastically would be more appropriate in a situation where Obama was accused of being dismissive or insufficiently respectful toward a serious or somber issue.

Clearing brush was always the way they described Bush's seemingly ceaseless vacation days. He was never on a vacation, he was at his ranch "clearing brush".

Where does Kim Jong-un play his golf at? I bet he played some golf earlier this weekend.

So did the other networks decide they were tired of FOX getting the coveted "derp" demographic?  Because this would be a stupid farking story, even for FOX.

In golf they are not called "points," they are called "strokes."

I get where you're coming from but isn't the biatching about SEQUESTER and Obabma spending money for this while White House tours are shut down? That's why the watch this drive thing hits me in regards to this. Bush was making a joke while golfing under much more dire circumstances.

Is he golfing during the work week? Is he takings scores of days off to play golf? Because that would stink.

You know, I'm cool with the leader of the free world taking some time off or working away from the Beltway for a while (which was what Bush was doing a good deal of the time at his ranch).  I can't imagine the stress presidents deal with and -- even if I don't care for their politics -- I'd like them to make good decisions in an emergency.

2013-04-06 08:05:44 PM
Bush spent more time on "vacation" than any other President during what was arguably our worst time since WWII and I didn't biatch about it. I biatched about everything else he did but not that. Obama has 20 secret service agents around him and a phone. Aside from physically meeting with people, that's all he needs to do his job, which has to be the most stressful and shiattiest job in the world. So let him play some Goddamned golf.

Clearly he should be sitting in the Situation Room worrying about Best Korea. Or sitting in the Oval Office worrying about the budget. Or sitting somewhere worrying about something that he can't do anything about and has no control over, especially on the weekend.

Then they could criticize him for sitting around and doing nothing, instead of playing golf.

Yea, that would make sense too, then. I haven't looked anywhere other than this article, though, so I don't know what the derp brigade's angle is on this. The article itself just presents a brief, simple and factual account of his day so I assumed there was no real uproar yet.

/ should have known better...

Oh, and I love how the same nutters that have a fit because he golfs on occasion on the weekends are mostly the same bozos that will come stampeding into a CEO thread and claim that CEOs that go golfing or talk long lunches or trips overseas during work hours are actually just working and so it's okay and people are so stupid and just jealous of their wealth for making a big deal of it.

I wonder how many chemotherapy treatments, for medicare patients being refused treatment due to the sequester, deploying his secret service team to secure a golf course would buy?
