I don't understand the controversy about Obama's remark.  Plenty of people commented on how pretty Palin was and nobody said boo.  He's not allowed to compliment a pretty woman?  It's not like he gave her a backrub or anything.

The sensitivity to this is that its not something you would say about a guy- that he's both good at his job and handsome.  The subtext is that attractiveness is traditionally a fundamental part of a woman's worth.  Once we get past that- where women are accordingly represented and valued, then a comment like this won't be an issue.  Until then, it represents latent sexism.

Now that aside- do I have a problem with his comment?  No, not if the target of it doesn't.  She has that right, for the reasons I mentioned- and has chosen not to exercise it.  That's good enough for me.

The real sign of the apocalypse is that the left is finally realizing that Fox is Fair and Balanced.
