Obama is so full of shait I am surprised we don't see toilet paper stuck to his ear holes.

I'm starting to think the Republicans are right. Here we are well into the sequester and the stock market is soaring and life continues going on as normal.

Popcorn Johnny: I'm starting to think the Republicans are right.

When they say "The sequestration is horrible and it's all Obama's fault" or when they say "the sequestration is no big deal and we save some money"?

No. Yes. Maybe. For sure. Too soon to tell. Looks like the worst is over. The worst is yet to come. It will get better before it gets worse, It will get worse before it gets better,

ALC59: Obama got his job by bluffing being lucky enough to get nominated right around the time W. had tarnished the GOP brand and facing two lackluster opponents.

It was the FAA that announced the closures, and the FAA that announced the delay of the closures. But, you know...

So a warning that if a deal isn't reached, it could affect seniors is the same thing as threatening to take air traffic controllers off the job?

Do you really see that as a rational comparison?

Fair enough. I chalk it up to the limitations of written communication. You sould have heard teh snark in my voice when I typed that. It was pretty thick. I was pointing out that right-wingers intentionally misrepresent or distort things Obama says, or assign to him things he hasn't said, in order to cast him in a bad light.

I've found beer helps. I often type in beerglish, and a nice stout or ale on the reader's side acts as a bablefish.

Actually a lot of small airport towers are being shut down. My ex works at a flight school in Troutdale, OR and they are losing their tower. Think about that, student pilots without a tower.

Flight schools already operate out of hundreds of uncontrolled airports in the US.

Not for some time now.  The ignore feature is awesome!  He's the internet dentist that came up with the statisticals and was ranting about going off-grid to live in a commune in the forest, if I remember correctly.

I've been a Certified Tower Operator and I could give a quick set of pointers to a team from Motorola and IBM and we could ditch the control towers and centers. Just mainly need to get rid of the crap radios and build a server farm to chit the chat. I'd recommend keeping the VOR and other traditional ground based navigation aids in case the GPS satellites... Actually, those are mil-spec in higher orbits, I bet they'd handle a solar flare.

I was at the opposite extreme. We were learning ATC at an airport without any traffic.

Yeah.  I had to get training just to get familiar with taking to a tower.

One thing, the AOPA CEO said the Senate had a plan keep the towers funded but the White House told them to drop it.  Methinks teh adminstration wanted "the rich" to have some sequester pain, but if if there are aluminum showers the debris won'[t ask who who you voted for.

He said that the FAA was told there was no way the sequester would happen so not to plan for budget cuts ahead of the election.  Then in the Spring the FAA was told to cut $600 million with only half of the current fiscal year left, so the cuts have to be twice as much per month remaining.
