Metal detector enthusiasts love those.

Yeah, the rip tops got left everywhere.  This is going to suck.  Maybe they could could put a deposit on both pieces?  (Although deposits haven't kept up with inflation.  Lot's of people just throw their empties in the recyclables).  It shouldn't be impossible to design a full top open that doesn't actually separate the lid from the can.  It would have to push down into the can, or maybe roll up like a sardine can lid.

Let's be honest though, most people aren't going to use this to 'smell their beer', most people are going to use it to be able to chug faster.

I still have a scar on the bottom of my foot from stepping on one of those back in 1977.

My sister has one too, and ended up with blood poisoning another time, So yeah. And folks don't seem to be processing that these were ALL OVER the place in those days. The beach was always the best though. Hiding right under the sand like a little tiny pungee stick.
