It'd be nice if schools had a website that reminded parents how the work of raising their kids was going to be split between them.  Schools will cover this, and parents cover that.  Then schools wouldn't feel the need to do this crap and parents would have another reminder that they should put some thought into raising their children.  I think the schools would benefit a lot from it.

In Delavan-Darien High School's "American Diversity" curriculum, students were urged to verify white privilege by visiting a Wal-Mart toy section and counting the white and black dolls. After objections, the school district is reconsidering this curriculum.

Yea school teachers are so out of reality, I know both of my parents were school teachers in the 50's and 60's. Most of the teachers are communists or socialists, believe in redistribution of wealth, live off of the government.Their plan in the 50's and 60's went exactly like this. Give us tenure so we have job security, they can only be fired after a years long process and then the appeals last for years longer. My mother was a founding member of the MEA Michigan Education Association, one of the first teachers unions in Michigan. I heard them in my parents basement making plans. First they fought of tenure so they were secure in their jobs with the idea "Hey we don't get paid very much so at least give us job security". Then they went for an extremely generous retirement policy, "Hey we don't get paid very much so at least give us security in our old age". Then they went for high wages "Hey we don't get paid enough". Although legally they could not strike due to the contract they had signed, they struck any way and said "We will kill any replacement teachers". Yea they were interested in the children's welfare alright. In later years my mom admitted to me most teachers are socialists and democrats, a real wide education the students get.

I can see the 'intent' of the effort.  I've known way too many white kids who have no idea, no clue, what life is like for anyone who's not white and affluent.

I'm guessing this was an effort to try and open their eyes a bit to the reality that being white does indeed give you a head-start in life.  It's easier to get employed, it's easier to get out of trouble with the law, it's easier in general to be white in this country.

Note, I said...in general.  It's not uniform or a guarantee, but it's better than even odds for any average random white person.

Their intent is obvious, but their execution of the program was flawed.

Schools don't "feel the need to do that."  They choose to do that. There has been a noticeable shift in teaching topics such as racial diversity over the big three subjects.  Obama even went out and said that we should dumb down math requirements not teaching algebra until a year later!  Here is california abandoning 8th grade algebra:

http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_22509069/california-abandons-algebra-r eq uirement-eighth-graders

The only Mathematics Professor on Obama's Common Core initiative, James Milgram from Stanford, is incensed against the dumbing down of math education in the new standards.  The new standards under Obama are delaying core concepts on math.

On top of that a new report came out about liberal arts colleges and the focus on racial classes instead of actual classes on the core curriculum.  This has been discussed in a series of WSJ articles such as: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324100904578404502145771 288.html

Liberals LOVE to teach what you claim they "feel the need to teach."  There has been a steady move away from classical studies; a dumbing down of math, an increase on liberal priorities.

Umm, wut?

I wouldn't put too much belief into what this article is saying. This guy is a nut.

Do you liberals ever get tired of just dismissing a topic without considering it just because you disagree with it or it makes your viewpoint look bad?  The group who initiated the wristband idea already removed the teaching concept from their website due to backlash.  Here are other news sites, maybe you can find one bland enough so you can maybe read it before rejecting it due to it hurting your sensitive world view:

Those aren't news sites.

THEY DON"T FIT MY WORLD VIEW, I WILL IGNORE THEM,  Is Washington Post a news website?  Sorry I didn't post the Daily Kos.

Here is an update from the non "news" website.

So instead of owning up to its nefarious program, the department made the site password-protected and hid the materials and its activities from taxpayers. DPI opted for less transparency. That should immediately set off alarm bells in taxpayers' heads. What are they trying to hide?

I love how you liberals dismiss all information you disagree with.  What a laughable world view you have.

You're right. I don't trust blogs because they're blogs and very unreliable.

Stick to the actual honest to goodness 'white privilege' bits, which do exist for the purpose of create a white guilt trip... This one seems kinda... iffy.
