I moved from the UK to the US 12 ago, and I couldn't agree with you more. I'm consistently drinking better beer in the States than I ever did in Blighty. Cigar City FTW.

That said, I've had a pint at the Minerva - great little boozer - and frankly they should leave it the fark alone.

Sometimes, I love living in Maryland.

OK, now that we, as a nation,  got good beer out of the way, I want to see a sausage revolution.  No, not that.  I want America to start taking as much pride in its sausage as it does its beer.  I want locally produced knackwurst and bratwurst and blutwurst EVERYWHERE, like hot dogs.

Oh, hell yeah. Francis Drake was engaged in a game of lawn bowls when he was informed of the approach of the Spanish Armada, and he's famoutly reported to have said "There is time enough to finish a game of bowls and defeat the Spanish as well." He then went on to do both those things, finishing off the Spanish in port with several fireships.

No, it still makes sense. It's typical America -- all or nothing, there is no middle ground. Pisswater, or something with absolutely no subtlety whatsoever. You still get much better beer overseas than here. (And 99% of what's sold here is still the pisswater variety anyway.)
