Original cost of my wedding ring $2300.00. When I took it in a few years ago (still married but our hot water tank went out and we were desperate) the pawnshop quoted me $300.00. If I could find a place that would give me a decent price for my ring, I'd sell it in a heartbeat and use the money for a down payment on a used car, but alas, diamonds are just as bad as "new" new cars. The second you take them out of the jewelry store, they become next to worthless.

/has a plain sterling band now for my common law marriage on my left middle finger, like it much, much better than the diamonds I used to wear

FizixJunkee thanks for the suggestion and I may still try it, but the problem with mine is that the band and engagement ring are soldered and it's not symmetrical. Still may give it a shot though, one of these days.
