(IMDB)   I just found out that Orlando Jones has finally had another starring role. Is the curse of 2001's Evolution lifted? This guy was gonna be Mr. Glass in Unbreakable, once upon a time   (imdb.com) divider line 57

Poor bastard ended up selling 7-Up and doing bit parts in horror films and tv shows.

It wasn't that bad.

2013-04-06 02:56:53 AM
Yeah, the budget on that movie was $25,000.

2013-04-06 02:59:50 AM
Yeah, and released on youtube.

But still. Mad propz, Orlando. You're comin' back.

I mean there's that conceit of typecasting. That a comedian is only a comedian.

But comedians are actors who have to emote constantly. A very large number of professional comedians are running away from deep emotional trauma. They can play a straight role.

Anyone who doesn't believe me should watch "The Minus Man".

There was another actor named Orlando besides Bloom?

Mugato: I liked Evolution.

As did I. People were complaining about no "Ghostbusters 3," when the real spiritual successor was right in front of them since 2001.

2013-04-06 09:30:55 AM
Oh we goin' *global* with this, baby!

2013-04-06 09:41:17 AM
He was a hologram in the last "Time Machine" movie right? I remember kind of digging that film but its been 10 or so years so I think I need to revist it.

No.  Though, Orlando was the only good thing in that movie.  Mulder was awful.  Come to think of it...he was already emotionally committed to being a sex addict for Californication even though that show hadn't been created yet.  He mailed in his performance.

Orlando was good in The Time Machine too.

Yeah, seems like Julianne Moore will never come back from her association with that movie.

/Srsly, 2001? Feeling old.

Am I taking crazy pills?  I just watched Seconds Apart last night, and, for a low budget horror, it was pretty good.  Orlando did a great job.

I thought it was pretty good. I have a friend who loves it.

It was funny. I dont really get why people expected more from it. Now I want to watch it again.

It will be the first time anyone besides Perry has legitimately played the prestigious role.

Now we know that Tyler Perry edits Wikipedia.

What "curse of Evolution?"  Everyone in that film, including Orlando Jones, has been working steadily ever since.

Came second this exact phrase, to the letter.

Exactly, Evolution is the perfect example of why there should never, ever be a Ghostbusters 3.

Brooke Langton mmmmmmm

I was a crowd extra in that movie, so I ended up seeing her for seven days straight at eight hour intervals. Such memories.

/Keanu signed one of my work stubs too. Good times.

I though Evolution was hilarious.

Follow Jeff, a smart but directionless techie, some would say an "unchallenged" geek, as he falls down a mystic rabbit hole-leaving behind his dead-end job in tech support. He is thrust into the stuff of legend when he comes across an ancient Aztec necklace, revealing past and future events hidden from everyone else and changing his life forever. Jeff has to move fast and think even faster if he is to survive

Oh boy.  Cash that paycheck like it was your last, Orlando.

/Also liked Evolution.

He will never top his role in the Mummy II, and neither will any of the other actors involved.

New curse with historical irony, beatches!

"can I get you anything?"
"Yes, ice cream, please."
"Ice cream, sure, what flavor?"

Aside from Cannonball Run, The Replacements is the greatest movie ever made.

Even Duchoveny was fun. And someone else remembered Julianne Moore was in it.

Jones has been pretty good in some of the more serious bit roles he's done(like Time Machine), pity he hasn't been able to parlay it into more work in that area

I went to IMDB with the intention of telling you you were wrong, but turns out besides The Hours, Children of Men, and the upcoming Carrie remake, she really hasn't done a damn thing since 2001 that was worth watching. I hadn't realized.

Sarah Silverman was in Evolution, too.

My understanding is that he used o be addidded to crack, but now he is clean.

Can you blame the guy for having a slow career recently?  He used to be additted to crack and he had to sell magazine subscriptions to stay off and get clean.

For all the stupid crap adam sandler does, I always thought that he does some pretty serious drama when he has no control over the script/direction/production.  I was just reading the Ebert list of worst sports movies and Waterboy was on it.  He had said he really wanted to see an AS movie he liked some day.  Since Waterboy was such an old movie, I clicked through to find Ebert's thoughts on some of AS's more recent stuff, and he actually started liking some of them - also saying that he can do good drama when he leaves everything up to somebody else.
I was pretty angry when I went to see Funny People in the theater because the previews made it out to be a comedy.  I hadn't wanted to see it at all, buy my ladyfriend insisted we go.  It would have been a pretty good movie if I had been prepared for what I was seeing.  Ladyfriend hated everything about it.  Turns out she hated everything about me too.  The feeling was mutual.
Funny thing, she only started dating me because she wanted to know what it would be like to date somebody with Asperger's.  I don't have Aspergers.  I only dated her because I wanted to remember what it was like to go out with somebody for more than 2 weekends.  Maybe she was right.

Orlando Jones was awesome in "Liberty Heights." Can't remember if that was before or after "Evolution" came out
