My money is on the guy from Arkansas as well.

DamnYankees: I say Pryor. Just  a feeling.

Pryor or Manchin.

2013-04-05 03:49:07 PM
Arkansas for sure.

2013-04-05 03:50:58 PM
Manchin: 3-1
Pryor: 5-1
Johnson: 10-1

And just for funsies:
Paul: 420-1
Kyl: 666-1
McConnell: 9,086,509,846,798,476,046,706-1
Lindsay Graham: cha-chee-cha-1
Corker: potato-1

2013-04-05 03:55:46 PM

Dr Dreidel: Manchin: 3-1
Pryor: 5-1
Johnson: 10-1

And just for funsies:
Paul: 420-1
Kyl: 666-1
McConnell: 9,086,509,846,798,476,046,706-1
Lindsay Graham: cha-chee-cha-1
Corker: potato-1

I think Bachmann is the potato-1 odds, though she might be forced to admit she's already gay married first.

We're talking about the Senate, pal. Talk about potato...

// I had a whole list of House odds - Barton, Bachmann, Broun...
// even Reps whose last names don't start with B would have been ridiculed

Mark Pryor and Joe Manchin sound like gay pr0n names..

And Tim Johnson doesn't?

2013-04-05 04:58:25 PM
Was Johnson the one that said he knows his son is gay, but still doesn't think they should be allowed to get married?

I'd put my money on him.

I can see a republican doing a fruedian slip and outing himself.

/the lesbians GOP are too cagey

Landrieu is just waiting for the check to clear.

Tom_Slick: And Tim Johnson doesn't?

Only if his nickname is Twink.

2013-04-05 05:26:39 PM
My bet's on Pryor

The question is whether the four will be on record before Republican #2 speaks up.

That's already happened. Mark Kirk came out in favor this week.

There are already 2 Mark Kirk Illinois and Rob Portman Ohio

Meh, they're all hanging on until SCOTUS makes it the law of the land.

2013-04-05 05:45:31 PM
I know some senators have been outed but has anyone ever run as an openly gay candidate and won a Senate seat?

2013-04-05 05:46:51 PM
I'd put my money on Manchin, though only because I think Mark Pryor is not guaranteed to be re-elected in 2014. Manchin doesn't face election until 2018.

I would expect Bachmann to have some sympathy around the issue, given that her husband is gay.

Yup

What exactly are the gays fighting for? What do they want? I know they want to get married, but why? For the federal benefits?  I personally don't care if a couple of gay postal servers get married. I just wonderhow the military will regulate this new Civil Right.

Mary Landrieu is going to be a tough nut to crack. Louisiana is extremely Catholic. Not intolerant, mind you, just extremely Catholic.

2013-04-05 06:00:14 PM
Mark has priors, Joe's into man chin, Tim tweets pictures of his Johnson, and you don't even want to know what a Landrieu is.

There's a good argument Landrieu already came out in support of it. Cyrptically, but she did.

Given the deep dark crimson red states they represent, it seems highly unlikely that any of them will do the right thing.

I'm guessing individual gay couples' reasons for wanting to get married are as varied as straight couples. Of course, straight couples don't get  concernedquestions from strangers on the internet regarding their life choices.

2013-04-05 06:08:13 PM
Fall?

Johnson will be the last to pull out.

The sad part is that the party of "small government" is the one NOT leading the charge on this issue

/there's a reason I put small government in quotes

who really cares?

marry a fence post for all I care

as long as it doesn't cost me money, what the fark to i care.

gay divorce shows would be wild

I get that a liberal couldn't get elected in West Virginia, but honestly the only "benefit" that the Democratic Party gets from having Manchin around is that it lets Republicans say "There was BIPARTISAN opposition to such and such a bill".

You mentioned you don't care three times in a 4 line post.  That you took the time to write to show how much you don't care. After you read an article about something you allege that you don't care about.

It is not a new Civil Right.  It is just correcting an old Civil Wrong.

It will be the Lazy Libertarianism of the current generation that finally gives equality to gays.  It's nice that a good result will be forthcoming, but honestly "who gives a shiat" is a pretty terrible stance to have on just about any issue.

Two points, Landrieu said she had evolved on the issue but respects the vote of her state.

And, why the hell would the military regulate this any different than straight marriages?  How the hell is it any different than marrying someone of the opposite sex when providing dependent benefits?

when I was in the Marines, if I had gotten married, I would have gotten BAH and food money to live off base and my spouse would have gotten a dependent ID and the benefits.  What the hell difference would have made if my spouse's sex was male or female?

/not a damn difference

2013-04-05 06:38:21 PM
I just feel good about the fact that 49 dems, 2 'independents', and 2 repubs give the issue a 53-47 majority in the Senate. No excuses for past behaviour, but being the witness of a turn of the tide is rewarding. I'm glad to be alive right now.

Susan Collins of Maine will no doubt be Republican #3 any day now.

Pryor is likely the LAST  person to come out unless he's come to accept that he's probably going to loose reelection and just decides he wants to go all out.

Prosperity for America has been running ads against him since the beginning of the year, for a reelection that is in november of 2014 against Pryor. And they have been running quite a bit. At least 4-5 times a day in my casual viewing experience.

They are farking stupid.

When it comes to gay marriage, trust me, for the vast majority of ordinary Americans, this is not an "issue".

Equal protection under the law is enshrined in the Constitution.  Anyone that says otherwise is itching for a fight.

I know @SenJohnsonSDisn't going to care about one pissed off former constituent but by the gods I'm going to tweet this shiat multiple times a day.
