Mia Carruthers is her name, I have known her since she was a youngin and she comes from a pretty talented family. She was first "discovered" from the the last MTV show worth watching "Taking the Stage" which followed a bunch of talented musicians in a special high school for the arts.

She sort of reminds me of Sheryl Crow, except Sheryl Crow doesn't OD on caffeine and break a plate and damage perfectly good books.

Glad you enjoyed it, I think you can find her old album "Mia Carruthers and the Retroes" on Itunes for under $5, pretty catchy stuff.

Filmed in Over the Rhine

I was in Cincinnati last weekend for the first time in 15 years and Over the Rhine appears to be up and coming.  They kicked all the poor people out and put in a Casino, of all things.  Not just slots, but an honest to God casino with about 4 acres of floor space and a buffet.

Very pretty voice.

She has sort of a Kathleen Edwards thing going on.

A TFer with a friend?
I call shenanigans.

She needs to lean more toward CMT than MTV.

Huh... she can actually sing well.  I think that's the first time I've enjoyed one of the Farkus links to this sort of thing.  Thanks, subby.

Nice. Not exactly the kind of music I will go out and buy, but she does have talent. Thanks for sharing.

Was thinking the same thing. She'd be a great country singer.

That would get lots of airplay on CMT and the like.

Nice! I agree with the others and say that she would make a killing leaning more to the country side of things.

It's fine for what it is, but that melody is extremely derivative. Can't put my finger on it at the moment, but it's a dead ringer for song I've heard before. Not just a phrase or two, I mean the whole damn verse.

I'm from Covington, and will be in town the first week of May. Gonna have to check it out.

Listened to it again, it is catchy. Gonna share it on my Face Book page. Who knows, maybe others will catch on.

She's good and I liked the song.

However that having been said.  Do you also know the director Marius?  If you do would you punch him for me?  When he asks why you did it please inform him that just because idiots on YouTube wave their phones around wildly when recording videos that doesn't mean it's the proper technique to use.  That went way beyond shaky cam.

Even with THIS it was still pretty darned good.

Best of luck to her.

Wouldnt be surprised to see her open for someone like Sugarland or another country act. Good tune. Good mix. Good video.

This is the melody that the verses reminded me of.

I really enjoyed the song, though. She has a great voice.

yes. it's made to sell. mass consumption. sad truth most people don't welcome ground breaking musicians into their ears.

That genre isn't my usual listening preference, but it does sound nice and is pleasant to listen to
