Derigiberble: Someone in the news room should really think about what will show up before tagging articles.

[i.imgur.com image 664x186]

People don't always think these things through... In Phx, I was at a summer film festival, and one of the sponsors was a local alternative newspaper called 'Get Out'... While waiting for the show to start, they are showing slides like usual, and all of the sudden one pops up on screen that says nothing else but GET OUT. No "presented by", "proud partner" not even "magazine or newspaper" after the name, just Get Out in 10 foot high letter on the screen for like 20 seconds.

He just oozes goofy.

The article said the guy was a major distributor.

Anyone against the Death penalty for this creep?
Anyone?

I am.  I think the death penalty should be done away with.  The crime doesn't matter.  Lock him up, throw away the key (once found guilty).  Can't kill him.

If you can't trust the govt to manage your healthcare then you can't trust them to decide when people should be put to death.  Simple as that.

False analogy aside, what if he confesses? There is no fixing pedo. What if he is a happy little pedo that would continue this behavior forever? I know there has been a long history of judicial abuse and false imprisonments and deaths, but, does that mean that the death penalty is off the table for everyone? I'd have to think about that.

FTA: "Legal officials became aware of Shearen last month while monitoring child porn websites..."

Nice to know that our "legal officials" monitor child porn websites - rather than shutting them down.

But if they shut them all down, how would they catch guys like this? Maybe they'd have to create their own child pron websites?

You know - for "sting operations"?

Maybe they already have?

This doesn't seem like the type of problem someone with a huge penis would ever develop.

studs up: I know there has been a long history of judicial abuse and false imprisonments and deaths, but, does that mean that the death penalty is off the table for everyone?

No, the reason for not wishing to take another person's life is down to morals, I'm afraid. You either can justify ending another person's life for a crime, or you can't.

HINT: Most moral people can't. (regardless of whether the morals stem from biblical influence, or atheistic humanism, it's been quite the easy moral choice forever - Thou shalt not kill.

Is murder not the taking of another human's life with wilful intent and prejudice, with motive? Then the death penalty is murder. Deal.

They're broken and you can't fix them.  EVER.

SuperNinjaToad: 500,000- 1 million images and videos?!??

Even if he spends 2 seconds looking at each picture that is 1 to 2 million seconds.

86,400 in a day. Take away sleep, eat, poop, work etc let's say he spent 2 hr a day looking at nothing but child porn. that's 7200 seconds.

That's almost 300-400 days of non stop everyday consequetive child porn viewing and spending only 2 seconds each and that's only images!!! If he spends any more time it goes up exponentially.

you add videos and the guy would've need to spend almost every waking moment for the rest of his life watching child porn images or videos!!!

YIKES!

Or he's just one of those people who downloaded anything and everything without looking at it. I downloaded thousands of songs in a matter of a few weeks ten years ago when P2P's were the super awesome new thing. I bet if I sat down and listened to that entire collection I'd still find songs that were a loop of the same thirty seconds, poor quality, or not the song listed as the title at all. It took months just to organize them in a way where I could find stuff.

I'm not sure it'll do anything to stop future child pornographers, but pounding Mel Gibson's toes with a ball peen hammer is definitely the place to start.

Thankfully, you're not the one who decides that. I lean left in most things, but I'm a supporter of the death penalty. I think it's more humane than putting someone in a tiny box until they die.

Second most disturbing thing in the article -

Shearen has a public defender, but that could change very soon. The judge in this case is considering removing the free attorney because Shearen gets $1,500 a month from his Navy pension and has a car which he could sell to pay for a private attorney.

An 18k pension and a used car qualify for a public defender.  I like gettin' tough on criminals as much as the next guy, but show trials are where I draw the line.

that would be a real dick move on the part of the judge. unless the car is a new lambo there won't be enough from the sale to do squat against the cost of a private attorney. just because the judge has decided he doesn't like this guy it's no reason to fark with him.

Exactly! This is why the judge gave my brother the death penalty; he had a sickness that cost the taxpayers lots and lots of money, and the public outcry was so great to end my brothers life, because of the waste of resources and burden to society a terminal cancer patient really is, that the judge, who was up for his quarterly review, decided to skew in favour of the mob. Fair's fair, after all.

That's four tens! And that's terrible!

If we're really going to talk about morality, though, can we morally make the judgement to imprison someone forever? It's debatable which is worse - being put to sleep or living the rest of your life in jail with people who are known to rape and kill child molesters.

They're probably trying to account for the possible content on his DVD collection. It could be all child porn, or half child porn & half regular porn. Or it could be 1/3 child porn, 1/3 regular porn, and 1/3 weird anime rape games. Or it could be all child porn and one copy of Ernest Goes to Camp. You just never know.

I think you yanks call it "Justin" or "Eustice" or some combination of the two.

But, seriously, the human beings who apply the ramifications of breaking laws should not be able to commit murder. Simple as that.

Murderers and rapists are facts of the reality of being put in prison. They also like to rape and kill pot dealers. Should the judicial system murder execute pot dealers, instead of jailtime, to protect them from the murderers and rapists, too?
