I paid roughly $600 or so for my PS3 and got almost 6 years out of it.

By comparison Apple charges $600 for their 32gb ipad that and people line up outside the apple store every year to happily pay for a slightly different product every year.

I'm not saying i'm ecstatic about the price of the PS4, but it's not entirely out of the question.

Dark Arisen (Dragon's Dogma expansion) is coming out this month, PS3s gonna get turned on again for the first time in awhile.  If you like western RPGs with action combat (Capcom), give it a look.  Dark Arisen is the original game + expansion content in one.

PlayStation 4 has no games out right now.  Why would I buy one?

Counter_Intelligent: Not gonna care that much.  This generation made me forget why I liked consoles in the first place:  Japanese games.  Whoever gets the most support from companies like Namco (for Tales games), Atlus, Level 5, and the like will get my money.  But definitely not on launch.

Man, I feel bad. You are the guy the market has totally abandoned, but to be fair your taste is pretty atrocious.

xkillyourfacex: Gig103: Having a single hardware combination vastly reduces the complexities of software testing (compatibility, bugs that might arise from different architectures), as well as the complexity of the underlaying OS. Windows can do it because it was designed to support a lot of different drivers, but embedded OSes can be a lot faster, smaller, and reliable if they are hardcoded to specific drivers.

Standard marketing department jibber jabber. I respectfully disagree. It can be done. If it can be done outside console world, it can be done inside console world. There's nothing special about game systems. In the end we're just talking about computers after all.

I'm speaking as an embedded OS developer, not marketing. I agree it is possible, I'm saying it isn't practical for the market, especially since PCs accommodate what you are after.

Did anyone read the article about the new xbox needing to be online all the time?

Won't that suck?

Phoenix19851: Also, for the people that believe this.  If Half-Life 3 were actually announced, it would have been plastered over every single gaming site in existence.  To everyone who believe's this article, you all suck.

StopLurkListen: Why should I spend hundreds to buy a non-portable consumer electronics device with few uses and whose specs will be frozen and obsolete during its 5-8 year lifespan?

So I can get Modern Warcraftfare Hero 2016 Mega Turquoise Special Edition : The Sequelling?

xkillyourfacex: Why do we need new consoles again? Graphics are good enough. It'd be better to make consoles modular at this point; swap in new processors, gpu's, and different peripherals, etc etc. Upgrades are cheap and so is manufacturing cost, and the company gets to keep its cash flow as new and better games come out. I don't get why companies go in this all-in-one approach to console gaming. It's just not good long term if they can't get us good prices.
