kevinboehm: GoldSpider: So I decided this past week that this house is far too quiet without the pitter-patter of a kitter-cat, and put in an application to adopt an 8 month old kitten from a local rescue organization.  Is it considered bad luck/form to post pictures of him and start thinking about names before I actually have him?

Name it whatever you like, it's not like it's going to listen.

I beg to differ.. each of my crew has a name.. I can call any by name, that one will come to me.. and not for a treat....though they do get scritches and rubs....

StranahansBarracuda: Haven't read the thread yet.  It's been a hell of a week.  Could I have some happy thoughts and love sent to my friends who lost their 5 year old dog, Fender, very unexpectedly on Wednesday?  He got the runs last Friday and it all went downhill from there. Possibly cancer, definitely renal failure. Fender was one of those perpetually happy, easy going dogs who wagged his tail the whole time he was ill. I told them about the Rainbow bridge and that he'd be there with their other dogs who have passed. Thanks y'all :)
Fender:
[i50.tinypic.com image 240x320]

He was a cutie, that's for sure. I know the type. I had a cocker/black lab mix named Waylon who was cheerful to the end of his (relatively short) 7 years. Best wishes and sympathies to your friends on having to say goodbye to Fender.

Can so appreciate  yobbery having patch cables on his mind! So does Plumbicon as he re-vamps the coffin with sound system controls within.  Ignored Box that came contained an SR231 CXLR. Its own box sez  dual 31 band equaliser, constant Q filters, low cut filter at 50 Hz with 12dB/Octave Slope, balanced XLR in- & out-puts, balanced 1/4" inputs, impedance balanced 1/4" outputs, ISO 1/3 octave frequency centers.  I understand some but not all of that.

Of the cats I have lived with, only one would respond when called by name, and 90% of the time, the response was stink-eye.  To be fair, the other two were dumb as rocks so maybe they didn't understand that we had named them such.

I would guess that the majority of visitors only come for the pictures, since we seem to have more and more lurkers finally coming out of the.. cat carrier?  I myself come here all the time, but I don't always get involved in the conversations.

Welcome! Pull up a chair, post some pictures, or just keep lurking.  Whatever works for you.

Where will he plug the antenna???

(PS - Good luck!)

Heh! That fired some brain cells that have been dormant for a while.
That would be the folks in the research building...they're a bunch of iPains. I'm sure at least one of the labs is still using AppleTalk over PhoneNet.

Quite a few farkers do, myself included. We keep each other up to date on the status of our pets (all pets, not just cats), some ask for advice, etc. Caturday is more than just pictures.

Or to keep track of trolls  :)

Li-Ion helped too.
This floor is snap lock like laminate but it is vinyl plank. I mail ordered it, all 2000+ lbs of it. I wanted a floor that was easy care and water resistant since it is going in the whole house, baths and kitchens included.
Even with shipping it was less than the cost of the high end laminates and it is way easier to put together. Less floor prep, no underlay, and just the occasional light tap with a hammer to seat. And it cuts with a score and snap. So much easier than the laminates I have done in the past.

I've thought about something like this for the M-I-L's place. How does it handle uneven surfaces?

Heh.. mine definitely know their names.. general 'call to all' is either words such as 'eat', 'food' or 'hungry'.. or the sound of the can opener... walking into the kitchen and announcing "lets go!" will produce an instant avalanche of cats attempting to be the first in there...  'catch' means that there is a chunk of something delectable coming through the air.. have produced some amazing acrobatic scenes that way..... no dull moments.....
