Brian Blessed's Bastard Boy: It's been less than a week since I lost my Sake', and it still hurts, but I'm not overcome by it now.  But seeing as how this is the B4 home for animal hoarders, you can pretty much guess what happened.  But surprisingly, there was a twist.  My mother, the one who hates the ferrets, and is terrified of the lizards, and doesn't really like the cats, decided to work with my daughter and on Wednesday night, brought home Mo.  He is about 3 years old, and is definitely part, if not all, Maine Coon, which is what the wife always wanted anyway.  I know she wasn't a part of it, because she's a horrible actress, and she was shocked by it.  I'm guessing he's supposed to be mine, but he's spending more time with the wife than me.  She's smiling that she finally got a Maine Coon, so I'm going to be happy for her in this.  He's been very skittish since he's been here, so the pictures are limited right now.  I'm hoping that here soon he'll be more comfortable with us, but I know it takes time.  So say a big Caturday welcome to shiatake, the newest member of the B4 family.  And yes, I named him with another Japanese themed food in honor of my beautiful boy.

Poor guy, we turned up the heat a couple of notches. It went up into the high 50s today, which means the furnace hasn't been running enough, which means the Biscuit/Man CaveTM is getting cold, which means the Biscuit gets cold.

We never have the cats bathed before grooming, so his cut looks a little choppy right now. He'll look silky smooth in a week or so.

Get to type on what's sing-cerely hoped to be Lucky Pg 7, right below one of those OddHaircutFotos of Biscuit. Does kinda reflect how much came off. Requested similar foto from chorusmate who had Coonie Simba, who lets her live with him, done few days ago for seasonal matting. Not seen that yet.
In course of transcription, in ARRL District 4 which is US SE, the district chair has a tale & foto of Border collie mix she took in a while back. Once transcribed, will be able to copy text (& scan foto of course tho it's black & white) to Fetch both.

yobbery: Snuffybud: I had more than just those two, those are the only ones with decent photos. Cisco was very helpful too! He came to check and see if I was still alive after an afternoon of whacking boards together!

Funny you mention that. I put one of those floors in our spare room. I can't remember the manufacturer but it wasn't Pergo. The floor looks great (as does yours) and is impervious to just about everything as advertised, but "simply snap together" my ass! I spent a day and a half beating the living shiat out of those planks.

It went easier after I went back and bought the optional 'HaHa, Knew You'd Be Back..' custom pounding block with S shaped beater bar...but I was almost done by then.

It might be the brand of laminate. The Pergo doesn't simply snap together, but it doesn't take much work to make it. I'd drop a piece into the slot of the previous piece, thunk it 3 or 4 times with a rubber mallet to seat it, press it down, then (using a scap piece as the pounding block) thunk it another 3 or 4 times to put it into place. I didn't have to beat it into place, it went together nicely with fairly light taps, but Monday my right shoulder told me all about it! It wasn't that I had to hit it hard, it was the repetitive motion that bothered me, both the up/down workout on my legs and the wear and tear on my shoulder.

As I say to my daughter, on a daily basis, as she tries to talk to me while I'm in the bathroom with the door closed and the fan on.  She also still walks up and starts talking to me when I'm clearly on the phone.  She's 18, with a verified genius level I.Q.  When is this going to end? :-p

I think there are several Caturdayers who are pretty hand with knitting/crochet, maybe one of them could make Biscuit a nice warm sweater, of course it would have to be fashionable too.  Maybe something like this

I love this picture!  This morning my daughter and came across a You Tube video called "Star Wars Uncut: Directors Cut".  It is Star Wars with different people and things, along with the real people.  It was hilarious!  I haven't laughed out loud that hard for a very long time.  It is perfect for Farkers as it has so many obscure references.  The Mos Eisley bar scene where Obi Wan defends Luke made me fall over laughing (about 45 minutes in, if you don't have the time to see the whole thing)

Joan Jones W4JMJ, resident in Parrish FL in winter, wrote in her district column in Jan-Feb 2013 YL Harmonics as only one member in her district sent anything in:

I would like to share with you our newest addition to our family. We lost our 13-year-old Yorkie, Coco, just before Christmas 2011. She was the best dog ever & will be missed.
Before long, we thought our (then 1 year old) Yorkie, Gigi needed some companionship. So we decided to adopt a rescue Border Collie mix into the family. Sophia is the best friend of her "sister" Gigi. It seems to be a match made in heaven. Isn't it amazing how much joy & comfort our furry friends bring! I hope you enjoy the picture. & as always, I look forward to hearing from you with any news & pictures to share.
I wish you all the best in this New Year.

Isn't she a good-lookin' goggie? Will advise Joan I Fetched this here, & request Remote Skritchies applied behind those furry ears!

Snuffybud:

It was definitely the brand. The underlayment came pre-attached to each plank and it quickly became obvious that the interlock was a bit more radical than Pergo. The wife sold flooring at the time...she picked it.

Using a scrap piece for all that pounding just got old halfway through, plus there's that shoulder thing you mentioned. I could have made a larger block to beat on but I took the easy way out and bought one. Still, the stuff held up to all the pounding with only one damaged plank.
