When I was in high school, most visitors locker rooms were pink.   Visitors used the women's locker room.   We didn't have the money for special locker rooms for visitors.

Some people just aren't happy unless they're unhappy.

And he's pretty much citing accepted research when he says so.  People thrust into a pink room are temporarily calmed, but have a tendency to get even more distracted and agitated when they are taken out of the pink room and put back into normal colors.  In short, he's probably right in saying that a visiting coach will have a harder time inspiring his team in a pink room, followed by a more difficult time keeping his team focused on the field.

At least one NFL stadium is built so that the visiting team has to go a long way from their locker room to their field entrance, while the home team has a short walk.    This cuts down on halftime usefulness for the visiting team--they have to leave their locker room a few minutes before the home team.

If they were hanging up male centerfolds in the visitor's locker room or something, sure... but in this case? Sort of a stretch.

In fact, that's a new concept, because baby blue was considered a decidedly feminine color invoking thoughts of blue skies, pretty eyes, and soft waters, while pink was considered at least slightly more mannish because it invoked thoughts of being the baby form of red, a manly color.

It wasn't until after WWII that consensus started to switched to our current form, and no one has any idea why the switch suddenly got made so abruptly in the 1930s to 1950s.  Before that, no one cared.

That school is so small they had to combine multiple high schools to field a team that mostly plays both sides of the ball.

Intent wasn't the right word. I just mean that if the locker room was painted pink and no one there made any comments, the "it's to make them feel like girls!" sentiment is a projection of the stereotypes held by the offendee themselves. On the other hand, painting it pink and having an authority figure at the school say it's like a "girl's bedroom" for "sissies," there's really no way to argue, "well, you're only bothered by it because you brought your own stereotypes with you."

Back in high school we had exactly two locker rooms: the boys and the girls. During sporting events the visiting team would use other-sex locker room.

The visiting boys used the girl's locker room, which was pink. I do not know if they felt it was sexist.

The visiting girls used the boy's locker room, which they hated, because it was a boy's locker room.

I don't buy into the "girlie" aspect. It's a psychological trick.

That said, it still qualifies as being a bad host in a competition. Why not line the locker room with pictures of aborted fetuses or abused women or the 9/11 jumper guy? Pipe in odors of perfume and hog shiat? Show extreme porn on the TVs?

None of it is physical harm, right?

It's all just psychological, right?

Our local amateur hockey team has "ads" behind each bench. The home team has a lumber company with "Studs" in huge letters while the visitor's bench has a floral shop ad with "Pansies" in huge letters.

Pink? I had always heard that cerulean blue was the peaceful color.

Pink is a "girly" color, as in, childish.  If one equates grown women with children than that is their disfunction right there.
