They won't do that...they need some of us brown people to mow their lawns, cook their food, and wipe their babies' asses.

$40 billion per year? Not that much.

Of course, the Democrats are telling us that a one-time sequester-driven budget cut of $85 billion will destroy the economy, put old people into the streets, shut down the military, and basically end life as we know it.

So the big question is finding that critical spot between 40 and 85 that's still "nothing" and not over the knife-thin edge into "catastrophic."

Tax cuts for the 1% will pay for it!

You're not allowed to look at consequences of policies, the only important thing is pandering to Latinos.

2013-04-04 06:03:51 PM
How does spending a few hours with someone, helping them get paperwork in order cost more than capturing, incarcerating and deporting that person?

Yeah, I read the article. The last thing we want to do is to give the people handling our food from the farm, through processing, to restaurant/grocery store the option of healthcare. Everybody knows a little TB makes asparagus way tastier. How much do food-borne illnesses cost our economy and how much of that is preventable?

Study THAT out, FNC.

Yeah, we should totally just round up all the illegal immigrants and ship them back to Mexico.

That's totally feasible right?

/thinks the immigration process needs to be dramatically reformed to fix this issue

huh

Is this more or less than the Bush/Cheney projections for the war?
Is this more or less than the Medicaid fraud in Florida?
Is this more or less than what the NFL generates a year?
Is this what Michelle Obama ordered from room service that one time?

Forgive me, I am a left-leaning voter with right-leaning math skills

Probably should have thought of that before setting up our country here.

Don't have to. And just deporting the ones we came across worked so well Obama had to order ICE to stop, and they won't let them roll out eVerify either because they know that would also be effective.

Although President Obama supports setting a path to citizenship for many illegal immigrants, his administration deported a record 1.5 million of them in his first term.
In addition, the released by the government in recent days show that an unprecedented 409,849 people were deported for the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30.

Let's see what else it says....

The increase from the previous year occurred despite policy changes ordered by Obama to reduce the deportations of otherwise law-abiding illegal immigrants.

So again we are left with the question... Why do you keep lying?

No we are left with the questions you keep avoiding. Why does he keep issuing these orders that keep ICE from deporting all the people they are capable of deporting. He is pandering to activists who think people shouldn't be deported simply because they are violation immigration laws.

Can't wait for the corporations to come crying that they must raise their prices on goods because heaven forbid they have to pay their undocumented employees more than nothing. Of course it will be passed on to the consumer or workers so the board doesn't take a hit in their standard of living.

I'm guessing common sense isn't your strong suit. His orders keep ICE from deporting as many people as they could. And with all these people claiming how great Obama has been at deporting people, what does that say about your claim that it can't be done?

ICE has limited resources and cannot go after everyone. The President has them concentrating on the people doing the most harm. This is the only responsible way to run a law enforcement organization.

Typical big government liberal wanting the Federal government (ICE) to waste shiat loads of money to solve a problem that is better left to the Free Market. Illegal immigration is about labor. It's about as close to a Free Market issue as it gets. Why should we waste money deporting nonviolent offenders of civil law when we could generate income by issuing fines to employers that hire them. Watch as they self-deport. Mitt Romney was right. And here you are advocating for Bigger Government. Has it really come down to this DrewCurtisJr?

Yes, we should spend all the money and resources deporting people who get pulled over for not using their turn signal.

People are still being deported now, but now it's because they did more than just forget to turn on their turn signal.

If you read the entirety of Philip Francis Queeg's linked article, you'd have known that ICE agents routinely tell those select people getting deported, also known as VIOLENT CRIMINAL OFFENDERS, to go cry somewhere else, Nancy. But they use Soledad instead of Nancy.

...but it clearly doesn't match up with anything that actually happened in the real world. Now there's nothing terribly wrong with simply being wrong - it's the way one responds after being confronted with the facts that's really important.

We could deport both, most of the traffic violators are handed over by local authorities.

In one instance outside Asheville, N.C., agents arrested 15 immigrants - many of whom had only minor convictions, frequently for driving without a license - at a police traffic checkpoint but were promptly ordered by officials at the field office to release most of them.

The focus only on "serious criminals" is political, its not a matter of resources.
