I wanna tell you about mashed potatoes and the big beast. It comes out of the L.A. diners cool and slow with plenty of starches, with a back bacon narrow and hard to digest...

The chef awoke before dawn......and he put his apron on.  He went to the freezer and got out the milk.  He went to the foyer and got some salt.  He went to the kitchen and he, he, he sharpened his kniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiives.......He grabbed mixing bowl.  Cool.  Metallic to the touch, like an Aztec ice serpent.  Bold.  And he went to the vegetable tray and he grabbed a russet, and he boiled it.Hot steamy aching misery.  Bleeding in spirit and soft cinnamon to the touch, spud blind cool like a virgin's kiss.  And he peeled that russet, peeling back the tan rippled skin proud like a Navajo and he WALKED ON DOWN THE HALL.  And he took a fingerling and then he, he grabbed a white and then he, he grabbed an Adirondack Blue, and then he, he threw them into the water.  And seasoned it to taste.  And then he waited about 24 minutes, counting down each mercury blue second and he whisked that butter.  And folded in milk and heavy cream with a kiss of wheat flour.  Butter.  Soft and salty, lamenting for the night like a diamond in the ether glow of passion.  Will you die for me, potato?  We could start a religion.  Potato, you die because you must.

Russet?  "Yes chef!"  I'm going to eat you.  Yukon Gold?  Yukon Gold?  YUUUUUKON GOOOOOOLD I'M GOING TO PEEL YOU AND EAT YOU OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND I WILL!  YEAH.

whidbey: whizbangthedirtfarmer: \his brain is squirming like a toad

Not that I'm disagreeing, but I really am struggling to find a better rhyme.

There's a killer on the road,
In his pants he dropped a load.

There's a killer on the road,
his legs are very slightly bowed.

There's a killer on the road,
he liked that chick on "Alice": Flo.

Godscrack: I like the way he says 'mashed....potatoes'. He had a very hypnotic voice.

Now I'm hungry.

Let's go get some TACOS.

Rapmaster2000: I think Oliver Stone's the Doors didn't do him any favors. It was so self-important.

That's every Oliver Stone film: Wretchingly self-indulgent to the point of nausea.

Oliver Stone's movies are dull, plodding, turgid, overwrought pretentious art-house pieces consistently ruined by terrible acting, pompous melodrama and unnecessary voice over narration.

Even after 30 years in the business, he still seems to keep making movies as if he's a first year film studies major, with no sense of timing, direction, pacing, subtlety or focus to any of his films.

He might have lucked out with a gem here and there, but by and large the vast majority of his films are utterly unwatchable. They don't even feel like movies, they feel like 2 hour visual monologues where the main character is explaining to you, quite condescendingly, what the movie is about.

Rapmaster2000: I like the Doors. The only thing I know personally about Jim is his meh poetry. I think Oliver Stone's the Doors didn't do him any favors. It was so self-important. Gag.

That's probably close to the unvarnished truth. The Doors were fine musically, but, Lord, the Electric Poet thought he was a spotlight when in reality he was a night light.
