He got fired because of bad publicity and the fact that he wasn't winning games. You can be a total psycho coach and keep your job if you win games. But the administration at Rutgers knew about this months ago and suspended the coach for three game, but then fired him once it got out and it became a huge deal with ESPN and the media. Not that I'm defending Rice, because I think he should have been fired, but that should have happened seven months ago, not after it got picked up in the media.
