They don't know much about the AntiChrist if they don't love him.

Does anyone else remember when news sources actually included a disclaimer stating that their web-based surveys were not scientific and had no basis in reality?

Good times.

Seriously, how could a person with sincerely held religious beliefs actually believe that and not freak out? Besides the fact that, holy shiat, it means the end of the world is here, there a practical considerations.

Among other things, it means they shouldn't oppose him because 1) it says right in the bible that he's unstoppable, 2) it's God's plan and you shouldn't work against that, and 3) Jebus Himself is coming to put the smack-down on him pretty soon anyway. Really, there's no reason to vote for Fundamentalist politicians to oppose him in Washington, yet that's the conclusion they come to.

You're putting far more thought into that than anyone who believes Obama is the antichrist is putting into it.

FTFY. Disjointed  mental gibbering counts as thought, too.

God Is My Co-Pirate: Could the Rapture just hurry up and take them, already?

That would certainly make me rapturous

FTFA:  The poll also finds that a majority of Republicans think that the climate change is a hoax.

What's the "hoax" part?

When I read such nonsense, I often think to myself: "Well, at least most of them will be dead in a few more years." - and that's when some idiot fresh out of college sends me something to read from Fox News.

dear bible thumpers:

for $500, i will feed and water your pets after the rapture.

That would be freaking awesome if all deeply religious people just vanished and went to their respective paradises. Sure, we'd miss some of them, but we'd be better off as a planet.

I do like how links to this poll have been submitted about 50 times in the past week, yet it took a headline making fun of the republicans to actually get it greened.

How is the headline making fun of republicans? It seems to me it is just a summation of the survey results. nothing more. Ohhhhhhhh, you're one of those constantly butthurt and oppressed republicans. Dude, he really isn't the anti-christ. Chill out.

Actually I'm not, pretty far from it. But almost every single redlit link said "Americans" or "people" or the actual percentages of the whole populace. This one went right for the republicans and tada, green.

Just because I pointed out that it took jabbing the conservatards to get the green doesn't mean I don't find it funny.

I agree. An accurate poll would find that number closer to 30%

If that's the case, then there's no need for you to fill out the butthurt form. You're free to go, sir.

Well, if they 'actually' believe it, then they're left with the harsh reality that they have to actively, physically resist him and c'mon, these are GOPers we're talking about here.

To my way of thinking, this poll merely says that 1/5th of GOPers believe that Obama is a really really bad man, like the worst man ever...I guarantee that most of them have no clue what/who the Anti-Christ of Revelations is actually supposed be like or do.

It gets the headline because it's the most f*cking ridiculous finding.

I mean, the shape-shifting lizard thing may be marginally dumber, but it's far less popular.

If Republicans don't want to be seen as "the stupid party" (as Bobby Jindal says), maybe they should stop telling people that they think Obama is a Kenyan-born Muslim Socialist Lizard Man Antichrist who stole two elections with the help of ACORN (even after they no longer existed).

I doubt most of them could even define what the Antichrist is.

If the Antichrist promised to put banks in their place and fixed our massive wealth imbalance, I'd vote for him.

I'm sure if you asked them they'd say it was some brown skinned dude going around handing out free health care.

To be fair, with Republican Jesus and His message of free market Capitalism, gun rights and White American Nationalism, Barack Obama kind of IS the "ant-Christ"

The part where it snowed this winter and Canada wasn't turned into a tropical paradise overnight, which means that global warming is automatically false and Algore is fat.

My somewhat-newly-evangelical in-laws trotted this one out on me back in 2009 or so.  I told them to break out the bible and Revelation is pretty clear on what the Beast will be and do, and none of that lined up with the President.  Seriously, the Bible disproves it conclusively and it wasn't a difficult find at all, since their copy had an index.

My M-i-L admitted basically that she just didn't like him because he's black at that point.  At least that's true; he is black.

See, as someone raised in a Southen Baptist church (who stopped going as soon as possible), this doesn't make any sense to me.  I'd always been under the assumption that in this story, the good Christians would have been raptured on up to Heaven before the Antichrist came.  And I would think that anyone who seriously thinks President Obama is the Antichrist would also believe that they would be included in the Rapture.

Technically it's before the revelation of the Antichrist. He wouldn't divinely appear as an adult and then the rapture happens. He's gotta be born first, like The Omen.

I'm pretty sure the Anti-Christ isn't going to work on getting us healthcare reform.

Given the current state of the world I think that only good Christians left actually were raptured but no noticed that both of them were missing

You think Mr. Rogers actually died? Hell no, all they actually found was his sweater, khakis, and nice brown shoes, still laced.

20% think he's a servant of the anti-Christ, while a full  3/5ths think he's not quite equal to a real president.

I bet it's because that Bible miniseries cast a guy who looks kinda like Obama as the Devil.

Yeah, but you have to remember the type of person who is still in the Republican party. The most extreme 20% of that crowd is probably the most extreme 3% of the public as a whole.

/Remember, half the people you meet are dumber than average.

If Obama is the best that the Devil could do as an opposite to that stuff then the devil is shiat at his job.

Then again the bible really says that this will happen when Rome falls so I get the feeling that whole antichrist thing was made up.

I bet the Anti-Christ would point to the ACA and call it "health care reform".

PPP surveyed 1,247 registered American voters from March 27th to 30th. The margin of error for the overall sample is +/-2.8%. This poll was not paid for or authorized by any campaign or political organization. PPP surveys are conducted through automated telephone interviews. - Source

The $64000 result buried in the cross-tabs is that the national poll indicates liberals/Democrats are less likely to believe that vaccination causes autism than conservatives/Republicans.

GiantRex: You're putting far more thought into that than anyone who believes Obama is the antichrist is putting into it.

Or at least, more than the 5% of Obama's 2012 voters who think he's the Antichrist did.

When will Jesus come? If the anti-christ is here already, Jayzus must not be far behind! This should make Christians everywhere ecstatic!

I have a question about the miniseries did they go for the Run Lola Run effect  after each Gospel or did they just mix them all together when they showed Christ.

Why isn't the Soros-Owned Palace-Guard Lame-SCREAM SOPGLSM Media reporting about how B-Rock "The Islamic Shock" is a LITERAL HELL-SPAWNED DEMON bent on enslavement of the entire human race to his dark lord SATAN (a/k/a Allah)?  I mean, this is IMPORTANT!  People NEED TO KNOW!

The other 4/5ths think he's a socialist..........conservatives don't know what words mean.

4 percent believe shape-shifting reptilian people control the world.

That's what they want you to believe!
