You may not want to use the minus sign for the puposes of a colon when reporting temperatures. I read that as minus 22 and minus 50 degrees.

Degrees F = 1.8 * degrees C + 32
If degrees F = degrees C = x, then:
x = 1.8x +32
Subtract x from each side:
0 = 0.8x + 32
Subtract 32 from each side:
-32 = 0.8x
Divide both sides by 0.8:
-40 = x
Thus, -40 is the point where degrees F equals degrees C.

Here is, potentially, a prime example of Poe's Law. I've actually seen a couple of people on this website do essentially this in a thread. Two that I can think of managed to do it in a single post.

You should probably read both the link and your link.

Your link is correcting for fresh snowfall melt. The link is talking about the actual ice sheet melt which was not affected by this problem.
