Yeah...but they did two things; they were around at the right time and they listened to their management.

Their strength was never being a great band.  It was allowing themselves to be marketed and sold.  And its made them rich....well, at least one of them at least.

It's Hugh McDonald, who goes way, way back with Jon Bon Jovi, to the pre-Bon Jovi days. In fact a lot of the recorded basslines on the band's most famous tunes were done by him. For some reason though they never made McDonald an official member, even though he's held the bass slot full-time since about '94 or '95.

I'm sure the paycheck consoles him.

My understanding is that all but Jon were hired guns from the first album on.  His is the only name that was ever on the recording contract.  It's not that unusual, and would have been a GOOD deal for them if they hadn't sold 30 bazillion shiatty records.

He'll be back when he runs out of bank.

I was a teenage girl in the 80s and loved hair bands but I was the only who didn't really fall in love with Bon Jovi; sure I like a few of their songs but never bought their CDs. Same with Whitesnake.

I loved Skid Row.  About ten years ago I Sabastian Bach in concert solo and it was a blast.  Crazy guy it  sang hard.  ...good times those were.

Love "Wanted Dead or Alive" and have it on my iPod because Ritchie Sambora's guitar solo is great, IMO. And R.S. was so hot.

Taking the wife to see them in a few weeks.  Any Farkers got tips/suggestions as I have not been to a concert in 20 years (so yeah, get off my lawn). Llooking at youtube clips I presume concerts are not smokey anymore and cell phones have replaced lighters.  Wife is short, will she be unable to see?   It looks like these days eveyone has their hands up holding their cell phones trying to record or show their freinds who are not there, or some such nonsense.

I saw them in Cleveland. Pretty good. Not great, but then, the last concert I saw at Quicken Loans Arena was Bruce Springsteen and no artist can touch his awesomeness with a 20 foot pole. So...
