Jesus, Subby, British Hot! Not "smoking"!

Plus, you're gambling with hitting it, because if for some reason you marry her, you know she's going to plump right back up.

If I'm reading this right, bullying is good for fat kids and we should feel better about society when a teenager is accepted as farkable.

but the repeated shock/awe "oh my gosh!  You look so good now!" from my relatives at Christmas who hadn't really seen me since Easter stung like no other.  Yep, I get it, I didn't look good before.  Thanks for not telling me that then.

Yeah I know what you mean, I lost 80lbs and about 8inches on my waist, everyone who went without seeing me commented, I even had a guy, whom I don't know but has a shop by my house, commented on it.

It's like the only socially acceptable way of saying "hey you seem less ugly"

Or it could also be a harmless comment to acknowledge the fact that you seem to have been working on your body, which in general does happen to make people more attractive. but by all means keep taking offence to people taking notice.

So this would be proof that bullying works right? I mean she lost the weight because she was tired of being made fun of right?

So has she thanked the "bullies?"  Shiat, without them, she would probably weigh 20 stones instead of being quite hittable.

Bullying = good.

I've lost 50 lbs (almost 54, actually) so far since i started on New Year's Day this year and I'm relishing the comments. I'm not keeping it secret, either - once a month I put up comparison shots on my Facebook wall. The positive comments are very motivating. I felt I needed to let go of a sense of embarrassment about my body and start feeling pride in what I'm accomplishing.

Coelacanth: I was friends with a fat girl whom I tried to convince she was beautiful no matter how fat she was. She hated the compliments and started seeing other guys who only had the worst intentions for her, as if she wanted to prove that she deserved the crap she took. I finally had enough and said goodbye.

I have a friend just like that. She seems to have this narrative that she keeps telling herself; that she's fat and no one will ever love her. No matter what people tell or how they act towards her she only accepts things that validate this world view and completely disregards anything that would conflict with it.

I'm friends with a fat girl who tries to hard to convince herself that she's happy with her body. Never mind the health risks, she'd be gorgeous if she lost weight. She even made a passive aggressive comment to me when she found out I was cutting carbs to lose weight. Sad.

For fark's sake. Learn to take a compliment. Some people will whine about anything

That was the most tentative click I've ever made.... "smoking hot", "hittable", "pics" ... yeah.

I cringed as the page loaded, and my ass finally un-puckered when I realized the cake was not a lie.

Good for her. And while the insecure fat people in here might not grasp it, being healthier and more attractive is actually a good thing, and helps your self confidence to boot. Being fat is not healthy- and attractiveness is not just some social construct. We're attracted to people who are healthy and genetically different enough from us to not cause problems (incidentally, that's why the BO of some prospective mates smells much better to you than others- it's one of the mechanisms your body has evolved to sniff out people in your small little tribal village who are too closely related to be a good match). Fat is not something we associate with healthy, and it turns out that evolution wasn't stupid on that front.

WillofJ2: , I have trouble thinking that loss occurred naturally with no supplements

It's not that hard to believe. Despite what the ads tell you to think, it's not magic: Eat a reasonable, balanced diet. If she was eating a pack or two of cookies a day, just not doing that is going to have a major impact.

Um.  Yeah.

Don't think this is the entire reason we've got an obesity problem, but yeah, this is just unsettling as f--k.

I went through a pre-teen gaining weight phase, then joined cross country in high school (mind you, had done track/soccer/softball through middle school) and lost all that weight and then some.  Which was cool, healthier, etc. - but the repeated shock/awe "oh my gosh!  You look so good now!" from my relatives at Christmas who hadn't really seen me since Easter stung like no other.  Yep, I get it, I didn't look good before.  Thanks for not telling me that then.  I would've stopped those hormonal changes in my body.

/my aunt with tact who just hugged me and then asked how high school was going and if I was in any extracurriculars - drawing out the "yeah, joined cross country over the summer, been training five to six days a week" so she knew it was healthy wait loss - that was the way to comment on it
