Welcome to Farktography!
This Week's Theme: "Ghost Towns"

: Pictures of abandoned towns or sections of towns that appear abandoned.

We ask that before submitting your photos you read and adhere to the following submission rules, including but not limited to the following:
- Submissions must be photographs; screen captures do not count as photographs.
- You must be the original photographer of your entry. Do not submit anyone else's photography as your own.
- You are only allowed to enter a photograph once. Do not submit the same photo to another contest later.
- You may enter 3 photos in each contest as long as each photo is of a different composition.
- Please post each photo separately so they can be voted for individually.

Please note:
The overarching ideal behind Farktography is that image corrections are acceptable, while adding or removing elements in the image (e.g. removing telephone poles, adding Elvis) is not acceptable. HDR, stitching, or otherwise combining exposures in post processing are not allowed unless specified for a particular theme (multiple exposures done in-camera are acceptable, however). See the rules for more information on acceptable modifications, or check in at the Farktography Forums.

Legal: All photographers submitting photos to this contest are the legal copyright holders for the photos submitted and the photos are not to be considered free for any other use without written consent from the submitting photographers.
- Drop by the Farktography Forum on Fark (new window) or (for chatting, critique, techtalk and so on)
- Stats can be found here.

Found this heading up to Page last year. Though its not built into a mountain, it reminds me of the Tonto National Mnmt. that I posted above and I wonder what will be left of it in 800 years.

Been there! (but hated my photos; deleted them all or at least I didn't find any left to use for this contest). Neat place.

Ghost town of Ashcroft, Colorado, south of Aspen. It was founded as a silver mining town in 1880, grew to 3500 people, six hotels and twenty saloons...and then crashed five years later when the price of silver dropped out.

Not an entire ghost town, but this whole city block is dead, and has been for a long time.

The 'Living Enrichment Center'. Once a large church in my home town, now abandoned. Set on part of the property that used to be Damnash mental hospital. Great place.

Man, I really wish my old photos of The Eloise asylum tunnels and grounds in Michigan scanned in better. They are from well before the tear down, so much of the facility was still standing.

If you want some good creepiness and ghost stories, look it up. Place was basically its own city at one time.

The remains of the Cook Bank building, Rhyolite, NV. Possibly the most famous ghost town building in the Western US. This along with the caboose photo were taken in April 2011.
