Hey I have to justify my occasional doughnut somehow, at least it is not a bagel or a muffin, hell you can have 3 doughnuts for 1 muffin.

How dense is a bagel compared to a donut?

Sounds like my old late-night diner hangover cure... order pancakes along with breakfast, load the scrambled eggs and sausage onto a pancake and drizzle some maple syrup over it, then close it up with another pancake. Voila, breakfast sandwich.

Except if you go by the picture, it looks like two nearly full size donuts, so probably closer to 500 calories and 24 grams of sugar.

The double down is less calories than a big mac and is basically chicken cordon bleu.

This. Had a bacon cheeseburger on a glazed donut at the fair once. Truly awful.

Dunkin Donuts is a quick dispensary of calories. They don't actually make anything there.

For $8 I can get a plate of "eggs normandie" at La Madeleine, which is two poached eggs on ham on a split croissant with hollandaise sauce and cherry tomatoes. Made to order, on site. Compare that to $6 for two egg McMuffins or Dunkin egg things? $2 and a little time and I get a superior product.

It's the problem with people letting their lives be rushed. You trade so much for so little.

While this is true, for an extra $2.47 I can have Colette from  La Madeleine spread over a fine lace French tablecloth à la carte in place of your "eggs normandie," and I would suggest that she's the superior product in this case.

You should not rush so much. Life is better when you take the simple pleasures.

It's merely a matter of not working a normal job. I could do this at home for about $3 but it's not worth doing for enough hollandaise sauce for one person.

/Most people sell their time for less than it's worth.

That's different -- it's a sauce that is intended to go with the main ingredient.

Example:

Sausage and gravy = good
Sausage and honey = satan

Fried egg and sausage = good
Fried egg and pancakes with whipped cream and maple syrup = fark you satan

Understand?

How boring.  At least I know whose culinary commentary to NOT listen to.

Aside from common things like PB & Jelly or PB & chocolate and salted caramel, there's Chinese honey-chicken or sweet-and-sour dishes, the sweet dipping sauces in Vietnamese food, maple-cured bacon, honey glazed ham, and any number of other pork products paired with sweet/fruit.  Also, pretty much the entirety of Moroccan cooking philosophy disagrees with you.  B'Stilla, honeyed lamb, meat stewed with apricots and cinnamon... -- it's farking amazing.

Just candy with poultry in it.

, the sweet dipping sauces in Vietnamese food, maple-cured bacon, honey glazed ham, and any number...

These are disgusting. Pork is supposed to be salty, not sweet.
