That was the closest Funny or Die ever came to be even remotely funny.

Good idea for a parody, but it died.

That was awesome. Except for the very end where it mentions that "Sports" is 30 years old.

Please world, stop reminding me how old I am.

If you're ever in NorCal, swing by the 2 AM Club. The dive bar immortalized on the front cover of "Sports" is still open.

Ok...I take small issue with two parts of your post.

1. NorCal? *twitch*  It's Northern California or, more specifically, Mill Valley. ( I lived there for many years)
2. The 2am club, while not as "hip" and "groovy" as it used to be, is certainly not a dive bar. Mill Valley wouldn't permit it.

Hey did you know that originally, the 'thumbs up' was a bad thing to see if you were a gladiator in Rome because it meant the holder of the games was agreeing to your death?  A 'thumbs down' would inform the blood thirsty crowd that they would not get their sick jollies that day. /tmyk

Thanks for proving my point. The little girl was cute, but not very funny. Will Ferrell is even less funny.

Duly noted. I plead guilty on part the first. Part the second was meant as a compliment; I was attempting to express that it's an actual real-live bar, not a tourist trap. On my first visit, after the feeling of having stepped out of a time machine wore off, it was just another bar, and that's what made it awesome. It's hipleasant to experience a traditional and authentic style of tending bar.

Go watch reruns of the Brady Bunch and cry in your pillow.

HLATN must have been much younger than they appeared in their videos years ago. And someone on FARK told me he had a good career as a serious blues man before that pop crap came out. Anyway, good for him for staying thin. Wish I did.

Man you nailed it. He did take on that James Garner look. Many times I've read of people meeting him, guy is as nice as can be.

bniath: Raging Thespian: Digital VERSATILE Disc.

This.

Not completely true, according to the info out there.

(the following is lifted from Wikipedia as I'm too lazy to paraphrase it)
Etymology

When first invented in 1995, DVD was an initialism for the unofficial term digital videodisk.[5]

Within the next few years, certain members of the DVD Forum proposed the backronym digital versatile disc to express that DVD goes beyond video. However, according to Jim Taylor, a prominent industry figure, the forum never universally accepted this name and a 1999 report decreed that DVD was "simply three letters" and stood for "nothing".[6]

Today, usage varies and there is no universal agreement. Digital versatile disc has gained wide acceptance and is used by the official DVD charter.[7] However, others such as Toshiba (who maintain the DVD Forum Web site) still use the original digital video disc,[6] while Jim Taylor's FAQ still maintains that DVD has never officially stood for anything.[6]
