Yogimus: TheShavingofOccam123: Some of you are complete bastards posting pics that scare the living shiat out of people.

You can just go to hell with large tarantula legs twitching out of your anuses.

Wouldn't the hair itch like the dickens?

Know what's really scary?  They can shoot those hairs into your eyes!

robodog: Cagey B: In keeping with the "bird-eating" theme:

What IS that? It looks like an orb weaver as large as a bird. If so that may be one of the scariest things I've ever seen. The 2" orb weaver we had in the front yard last summer freaked me out enough.

It's a large as a small bird, anyway.

Daddy long legs aren't spiders...

Do they have 8 legs?

If so, they are spiders.

If I were a Photoshopologist, I'd take a photo of (what I assume to be) a really yummy looking crab, and stick a big bulbous arachnid abdomen to its ass.

If I ruined just one person's appetite for giant sea bug, it'd be worth the effort.

Cool looking spider. I love them as long as they're not on me or above my head. At that point I cannot be held responsible for what happens to them.

Poecilotheria metallica.

Sri Lanka is apparently the place to be if you're a tarantula.

That is beautiful I would love to have one as a pet.

BarkingUnicorn: Harry Potter fans may recall this as the "spider" that Mad-Eye Murphy tormented and killed.  In the movie, they used a Tanzanian Giant  Tailless Whipscorpion because it was scarier than any spider they could find.

[animal-world.com image 400x297]

My son had one.  It is not a giant; only about a half-inch across the thorax.
Learned later it's not a scorpion, and they aren't found in Tanzania.
It was tailless, however, and totally harmless.

Ahh the Tailless whip scorpion. Scary looking but so harmless..
As demonstrated in this video..

Well, technically it's not a "face-sized tarantula", it's a "face-eating tarantula".

there have been a couple of photos of huntsman spiders in the thread, no pun intended.

I have many times captured face sized huntsman spiders in my home and taken them outside. Usually I see them in one room, ignore them as they hunt out insects for a couple of days and find them in a bedroom. Not problem, catch, take outside, release.

Have to find out the British Naturalist who went to Amazonia and allowed one of the gigantic spiders to crawl over his head. it was filmed and shown in the documentary. Face sized, plenty around, this was bigger than his head!
