Ben Carson is an exceptionally talented surgeon and a farking moron otherwise. If that means I'm a racist, then smack my ass and call me David Duke.

I remember the Liberal Political Action Convention where Black Student Union members advocated a return to segregation.

Did I miss the part where there are scathing attacks on Ben Carson?

Quick google search.

Nope can't find any, but I see plenty of stories where he is going after these imaginary critics.

1.say outrageous things on Hannity
2.attack critics even though said critics have ignored troll
3.profit???

2013-04-03 02:23:58 PM
Interesting.  Though I wonder if he's considered that maybe he's being attacked by "white liberals" because he's a douchebag with juvenile political beliefs based on false premises?

Nothing to do with the xenophopic, minority hating GOP party.  Nope, if you question why hes allied with folks who woudl love to destroy him, your a racist.

2013-04-03 02:27:38 PM
I had never heard of this guy, so in reading up on him in wikipedia (yea, yea, I know) I find this:

Carson has identified himself as being independent of any political party. "If I were part of one, it would be called the 'Logic party,' and it would be dedicated to commonsense approaches we all should be able to see."

Ah... the 'logic' party.

*earlier in his wiki article*

On political correctness, Carson remarked: "The PC [Politically Correct] Police are out in force at all times ... We have to get over this sensitivity ... PC is dangerous, because you see, this country, one of the founding principles was freedom of thought and freedom of expression. And it [PC] muffles people. It puts a muzzle on them."

It never ceases to amaze me how many people think THEIR freedom of expression is supposed to shield them from the freedom of expression of others. Dr., you fail at logic.

Oh, and it seems he is soon to retire as a doctor. Do we have political aspirations doctor?

2013-04-03 02:27:56 PM
FTA: "They need to shut me up, they need to delegitimize me," Carson told the radio host while explaining why he believes the media has scorned him for lumping homosexuality in with unsavory sexual acts like bestiality and pedophilia.

No one on the left wants to shut you up, you doofus.  Why?  Because everytime you open your mouth, you prove that you are the gift that keeps on giving.

I don't know anyone who has had interactions with Dr. Carson who doesn't come away believing two things: (1) there is no one you'd rather have operating on your brain and (2) he has a few screws loose, which mostly relate to his devout religious beliefs. He is, to say the least, wired differently than the rest of us.

judging by the comments, we allowed ourselves to be conned by Obama, who conned his way through life, and oppress minorities as a result.  Instead, we should follow the true black ideology that the right claims to protect, or something.

Hey buddy no one on the left really cares what you think your ideas are not any different from any other right wing derper. The right however loves you for the simple fact that you are black, not because of your views they got a million people that say that stuff. They think that other black people will see you and decide to vote GOP. They honestly believe that black people voted for Obama simply because he is black and that it has nothing to do with the GOPs policies towards minorities. They think that if the just have a few minorities say stuff that other minorities will vote for them because they don't really listen to policy. So enjoy your 15 min of fame asshole.

Levin added that the doctor has been attacked by "white liberals" because he is a black conservative, to which Carson replied: "They are the most racist people there are. Because they put you in a little category, a little box. You have to think this way. How could you dare come off the plantation?"

So we've got us a Hermann Cain 2.0 here.

I like that he adopts the narrative of every racist huckster in the nation.

The conservative strategy of telling black people they're hapless idiots and then berating them for not agreeing is sure to pay off one day.

He's basically got Rick Santorum's views on gay marriage and Steve Forbes' tax plan; the former made Santorum an internet meme, the latter didn't make it very far in the Republican primaries.

It's a bullshiat argument that people who disagree with his opposition to gay marriage, his flat tax idea, or even his belief in Creationism must be racists.  People rejected those ideas long before Carson's moment in the sun.

That's the mistake Republicans continue to make:  they believe that they can sell unpopular ideas by using minorities or women as salespeople.  They still haven't learned their lesson from 2008.

Silly Jesus: Or people who have been on Fark longer than 30 seconds....

Son, you gotta relax.  Look, I know you've got a high six-digit Fark ID number so some youthful indiscretion is allowed... maybe even expected.  But trolling is a gateway behaviour.  Maybe today you're trolling a thread that's mostly about one farker reddening the bottom of another... but what's next?  I've seen some of the greatest trolls come through these parts...  masters of their art...  they could troll the Dalai Lama and have him hurling his keyboard across the room.  But every one of them either broke character, or got banned or simply faded away as the fickle fark public moved on to stupider and more disingenuous trolls.  There's no future in it, my boy.  Don't pass up your future for a few meaningless posts that'll give you that spontaneous erection you get by pretending to be a caricature of humanity on here.  That erection is going to get harder and harder to acheive, until it consumes your whole life.

As-salam alaykum, little one.

AdolfOliverPanties: Wait.

The right says that the left believes that all white people who do not agree with Barack Obama are racist.

Now this guy on the right says all white people who don't agree with him are racist?

I don't want to be a racist.

Which black guy do I side with?!

Of course not everyone - not even most - people who disagree with Obama are racist. However, you'd have to be blind not to notice the insidious hate bloc among TeaPublicans, evidenced seemingly daily with stupid signs at rallies or interviews with conservative media. I mean, there's a difference between "Carlson is farking retarded" and the crap some right-wingers spew about FartNambla.

When you say you hate Obama and provide specifics as to why, that's great! We're supposed to question our leaders. But when you start clamoring about how he's a socialist Kenyan who uses the Constitution as toilet paper but cop a deer-in-headlights look when I ask you why you think that, yeah - I'm gonna question your motives.

So far, the only criticism of Carlson that I've seen is based upon sh*t the man actually says and promotes. I don't think you're an Uncle Tom. I think you should stick to medicine (which everyone agrees you're good at) because you clearly can't handle politics.

Guy isn't as unbiased and intellectually honest as he purports to be (surprise surprise.)  Tom doesn't push him as much as he should have, especially on his economic "fairness" claims.

Or there's a peach, that's not an apple, either. But it doesn't mean that I'm equating the banana and the orange and the peach. And in the same way I'm not equating those things.

also, when 100% of the vote from individual precincts in philadelphia go to democrats, they are on the plantation.  You are not allowed to wander off the plantation.

You want to talk about a lack of diversity of thought or opinion allowed?  This is the plantation Carson is talking about:

It's one thing for a Democratic presidential candidate to dominate a Democratic city like Philadelphia, but check out this head-spinning figure: In 59 voting divisions in the city, Mitt Romney received not one vote. Zero. Zilch.

These are the kind of numbers that send Republicans into paroxysms of voter-fraud angst, but such results may not be so startling after all.

"We have always had these dense urban corridors that are extremely Democratic," said Jonathan Rodden, a political science professor at Stanford University. "It's kind of an urban fact, and you are looking at the extreme end of it in Philadelphia."

Apart from that, the fact that one restriction on the right to marry has no compelling state interest backing it up does not necessarily mean that other restrictions also lack a compelling state interest backing them up. Personally, I'd say the ban on incest has a particularly compelling interest. The point behind a marriage is to create a stable pair. If I, as a hypothetical father, were to express romantic interest in my son or daughter, that would almost certainly destabilize the marriage I had with my husband or wife, and it would also probably cause my child a lot of angst that would hinder their growth.

Yes, I certainly was offended by this one. They ran it incessantly:

"Hello, my name is Barack Obama. For the last four years, I have done an absolutely shiatty job running this nation. Running it into the ground, more like, am I right??

Ha, no seriously, I really prefer sleeping to governing. Or pretty much anything else. You have no idea how comfy that chair is in the oval office. Lulls you right to sleep, even in the most dire security briefings.

Tell the truth, this is a pretty shiatty job. Tons of stress. I really would rather head back to Hawaii and spend my days smoking some quality bud, and then passing out on the beach after a quick handy from Michelle. But hell, y'all won't pay me for that, and the four large I get doing this gig is pretty great, so I decided to run for re-election.

So vote for me white people. Otherwise you're a farking racist. You don't want to be called a racist, do you? Yeah, didn't think so. So you know what to do. Right, OK, I'm out.

Oh yeah, my name is Barack Obama, and I approved thiszzzzzzzz......"

I thought he was making a slippery slope argument, the same way Justice Sotomayor asked whether recognizing a fundamental right to marriage could lead to marriage based on incest.

If you read the transcript, Sotomayor said the exact opposite about incest.

Meaning, what State restrictions with respect to the number of people, with respect to - that could get married - the incest laws, the mother and child, assuming that they are the age - I can - I can accept that the State has probably an overbearing interest on - on protecting a child until they're of age to marry, but what's left?

No. "Consenting adults" excludes NAMBLA and people who believe in bestiality.

You are right. He wasn't comparing homosexuals to child molestation and bestiality, he just thought they were equal groups when it comes to opposing a redefinition of marriage.

"My thoughts are that marriage is between a man and a woman. It's a well-established, fundamental pillar of society, and no group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality, it doesn't matter what they are. They don't get to change the definition."

You want to talk about a lack of diversity of thought or opinion allowed?  This is the plantation Carson is talking about:

They are voting units called 'divisions' that have pretty small numbers of voters. The Philadelphia Inquirer did a story where they went to those areas trying to find anyone who even claimed to be a Republican and didn't find a single one. The total votes from those 59 divisions (not precincts) accounted for just a little more than 3% of the total vote in the city. Philadelphia as a whole voted for Obama something like 80-20 and African Americans voted for him over 90% of the time. It is perfectly logical to expect African Americans in urban Philadelphia to vote nearly unanimously for Obama. What's more, African Americans have essentially been forced to vote for white candidates for the history of the country (since they've been allowed to vote, that is) because no African American candidate was ever on the ballot.

I wonder how many white conservatives are even able to conceive of what it might be like if they were a white person in a country whose democratically elected government has been dominated by black people for their entire lives and indeed never even had a white candidate for president ever in the history of the country and then, all of a sudden, comes a white person who gains the nomination for the party you have traditionally supported. It might feel like quite an exciting thing to be able to vote for that person for the first time in the history of ever.

Now, you might say that is a pretty stupid reason to vote for president. Your vote should be based on positions on the issues facing the country. That is certainly a logical way to express the role a voter plays in our form of government, but when white people in this country have had the luxury of considering competing white people for president for the entire existence of the country, it is quite easy to focus on the issues. Given the historical nature of having the first African American candidate running for president, and indeed, winning, I'm inclined to look past whatever motivation African Americans may have had for voting for Obama in overwhelming numbers. Maybe once they have had the chance to vote for African American candidates with the kind of frequency white folks have had to vote for white candidates, it won't matter anymore. But you know what, it does matter and it should matter and African Americans voting for Obama en masse is hardly a reflection of white liberals trying to keep them on the plantation, it is a reflection of the fact that we, as a country, despite advances in civil/equal rights had still not, prior to 2008, even nominated a single African American to be on a presidential ticket of a major party in any capacity. Perhaps you should be thinking more about why that was the case rather than why African Americans in urban Philadelphia voted for Obama so overwhelmingly.

For all the harumphing about the "liberal race card" I've never heard anyone on the right admit that claims of racism may stem from their attitudes and policies towards minorities. They complain that they can't criticize the president on anything without being called a racist, overlooking issues like Obama's birth certificate that were genuinely rooted in race.  So they parade around the few minorities who agree with the GOP platform and immediately when guys like Carson and Herman Cain get called out for saying something massively stupid, they reflexively shout "SEE? A BLACK PERSON WAS CRITICIZED! THAT PROVES LIBS ARE THE REAL RACISTS!"

Of course they don't honestly mean that. They just want revenge against their political rivals. They feel that the left's claims of racism are wholly without merit, so to retaliate they manufacture their own meritless racist accusations to "make it fair." They don't actually believe the people criticizing Carson are doing anything racist. They're just doing it to frustrate the other guys.

cchris_39: Looks like the good doctor just gave the left a taste of their own debate tactics.

See? Revenge > Honest debate. Sticking it to the libs is what's most important.

theknuckler_33: Silly Jesus: Serious Black: Silly Jesus: He stole that from the liberals.  All white people who disagree with Obama and his policies are racists.  Right, Fark?  You guys aren't really going to be such hypocrites that you give Carson shiat over this, are you?

I'd say there's a big difference between a white guy slamming Ben Carson for comparing homosexuality to having sex with kids and a white guy bashing Barack Obama because he was born in Kenya.

Hell, a white guy saying he doesn't like ANYTHING about Obama's policies is called a racist.  You must be new here.

The nonsense about Kenya makes sense as far as calling them a bigot / racist etc.  Not, though, when someone dislikes one of his policies, yet that's a typical move.

It mostly happens when someone dislikes one of his policies that is virtually identical to policies of previous presidents.

Uh-huh.

impaler: SkinnyHead: Neither was Dr. Carson.  Both were making the point that if you accept the view that there is a fundamental right to compel redefinition of marriage to include one group, other groups may be able to claim the same right to redefine marriage to include them.

They were only equated in the sense that if the court establishes a fundamental right to redefine marriage to achieve marriage equality, those others might use that to make the claim that marriage should be redefined to give them marriage equality as well.  Justice Sotomayor made the same point, only she named other groups, those who might want incestuous marriages and polygamy.

And Carson added in the next sentence: "So it's not something that's against gays, it's against anybody who wants to come along and change the fundamental definition of pillars of society.  It has significant ramifications."

Wow. Ok. If I'd known you'd ask for clarification I'd have written this up on my lunch. So the key difference here is that Adult Incestuous Marriage and Polygamy concern an agreement between consenting adults who have legal standing to make said agreements in the United States, and also have standing to potentially bring a case to court over their right to make said agreements. Neither children nor animals have that standing in the eyes of the law, and in fact have well established precedence preventing them from having said standing. So no group desiring to marry an animal or child would have even the slightest chance of making it to the Supreme Court were they to try to bring a case forward to get these rights, as a lower court would be able to cite long standing legal precedence when rejecting those cases. Neither is in any way likely to have any impact on the future definition of marriage, very much unlike an Adult Incestuous couple, or a Polygamous group (flock? gaggle perhaps?). So in short, your arguments make no sense and you should feel bad.

/Sorry to everyone else for engaging the troll.

Question: could the Supreme Court find that bans on incestuous marriages were unconstitutional if they had never made a decision on whether marriages with same-sex couples were constitutional or not? How about plural marriages? If the answer is yes (which I am all but certain they could), then there is no such thing as a slippery slope with restrictions on marriage.

But children age 13-14 are allowed to get married in many states, with the consent of parents and/or a judge.   If the Supreme Court establishes a fundamental constitutional right to marriage equality, would it be limited to consenting adults (over 18) or could that precedent be extended to man-boy marriages between a man and a 14 year old boy?  If a man-boy couple were to petition the court to allow their marriage, could the court refuse the petition based on the view that man-boy love is seen as immoral?

As for a marriage with an animal, of course that would not be possible under the traditional view of marriage, which views marriage as a contract (exchange of vows) between two people (husband & wife).  A man and a dog are not man and woman and they cannot exchange vows.  But the issue here is whether the traditional view of marriage (husband & wife) should be abandoned to achieve marriage equality for same sex couples.  If they establish a precedent that the husband & wife aspect of traditional marriage must be abandoned to achieve marriage equality, couldn't they say that the traditional view of marriage as a contract should also give way to permit marriage equality for man-dog love?

Yes, they could.  Does that mean there is no slippery slope? No.  They might think that they're only going to ski part way down the slope and stop there, but once they get going, it's hard not to ski to the bottom.

You generally do a decent enough job of believably feigning misunderstanding about various issues, but there's no way you're actually going to convince anyone that you don't know what "slope" means. Revise and resubmit.

onzmadi: gilgigamesh: So its cool to play the race card now? Awesome! I can't wait to call you all racists! Now where are my reparations?

Incidentally, I am prejudiced against Dr. Carson, because he is a doctor. Worse, he's a neurosurgeon. It is virtually impossible to have that level of intellectual focus and not have a few screws loose.

you know...
i think there is a descending level of sanity / relatability of doctors
Pediatricians
Generalists
Specialists
Surgeons
Anesthesiologist
Radiologists
Neurosurgeons

Good thing I am a geriatric pediatrician, it a very rare sub speciality. I did have one curious case a few years back...

SkinnyHead: Oerath: Wow.

But the issue here is whether the traditional view of marriage (husband & wife) should be abandoned to achieve marriage equality for same ...

You almost (almost) have a point with your first example. But considering the extreme number of limitations already placed on the marriage of minors (parent's consent, judge's consent, difference in age of the couple, likelihood of coercion, and so on) it really doesn't stand up to even the most basic scrutiny. Because basically we've already established that the minor is unable to consent and require all these other restrictions to act as a way to safe guard said minors from having that inability taken advantage of. In those rare cases where minors are allowed to marry it is usually when there has been a pregnancy between 2 minors and statutory (or normal) rape is not an issue. It is usually only approved in these types of cases, and where the parents are requesting a marriage and the judge has ruled it in the best interest of the community and couple. So... Yeah still not seeing that set a precedent for pedophiles to be able to marry their victims.

As for animals.... Well that point is practically too ridiculous to even address, but I'll try. ANIMALS ARE NOT PEOPLE AND ANY RULING ALLOWING FOR VARIOUS TYPES OF PEOPLE TO MARRY WILL IN NO WAY CREATE A LEGAL FRAMEWORK IN WHICH ANIMALS WILL BE GIVEN HUMAN RIGHTS. Now if PETA gets a ruling establishing that animals have human rights, you'll start gaining some traction with this argument, though you'll still have the issue of consent to deal with.

So.... Nice try I guess?

I know you're a troll and I shouldn't waste my time addressing you, but hypothetically speaking even if you have your way and the court decides marriage can only be 1 man 1 woman, under your logic what's stopping a 50 year old man from marrying a 14 year old girl? Won't your slippery slope occur anyways just with hetero pedophile relationships?

Yet it's the conservatives who keep trotting him out to prove they're not racist, like the racist guy at work who tells you about his black friend. They're the ones who made a big deal about how remarkable it is to find an intelligent (though the more he opens his mouth the less intelligent he seems), black conservative.

gunga galunga: AdolfOliverPanties: Wait.

The right says that the left believes that all white people who do not agree with Barack Obama are racist.

Now this guy on the right says all white people who don't agree with him are racist?

I don't want to be a racist.

Which black guy do I side with?!

I'd go with Samuel L Jackson.

I'd go ANYWHERE with Samuel L. Jackson.

But first I'd have to fold up my tongue...

Biological Ali: Why are you libs so afraid of a strong, conservative, begoateed black man?

Because the "conservatives"  http://m.motherjones.com/mojo/2013/04/cuccinelli-wants-rehearing-virg i nias-anti-sodomy-law are fighting for their "right" to throw me in jail because their religion says I'm a bad guy. This a-hole compares me to people who have sex with animals and children... so I would hope that I would get some bit of pardon from fellow farkers about not buying into his "small-government" mentality when he wants a government just small enough to fit in my bed.

Calling Obama "fartbongo", making pictures of him with watermelon, and turning him into a racial caricature is racist.

Calling Dr. Ben Carson an idiot for conflating homosexuality with bestiality and pedophilia is not racist, because we'd do that even if he was white.

To be fair, I've never see anyone except Victoria Jackson do that first thing in earnest.

impaler: SkinnyHead: She asked if marriage is declared a fundamental right, could the state ban incestuous marriages between a mother and child who has reached the age of consent.  Where's the outrage?

She wasn't comparing homosexuals to incest. She was discussing the legal result of the term "consenting adults" on incest.

It's almost like he wants to the government to define right and wrong, rather than individual adults. Isn't he a member of the small, unobtrusive government folks?

Hmm, well it seems to be being used more ironically now, but I've seen it used in earnest by tea party types.

Hmm, apparently its a surname as well as a racially charged epithet. Who knew?

Considering that "Fartbongo" specifically started as a parody of how utterly retarded Republicans and their racist nicknames for Obama are, right here on Fark, this tickles me and I need a cigarette every time I see it happen.

Hahaha!

I want the GOP to stick with this guy.  He will provide lots of entertainment on the campaign trail.

I love his idea of strict gun control in "large cities" but lax gun control "out in the country."

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/conservative-hero-ben-carson-to-beck-you- ha ve-no-right-to-semi-automatic-weapons-in-large-cities/

I might even contribute to his campaign, if he stays around long enough.

Carson/Palin '16!
Do it for the lulz!
