Dude was known to spend days at a time on the AT.  He's legit.

That this ethically-challenged goober sailed to the nomination over 15 other candidates should tell you something about just how truly useless the others were.  I looked up a number of their campaign websites before the initial primary and they all seemed to boil down to this:  "Faith, family, freedom, and remember Reagan?  Reagan."

On guy's campaign signs and slogan was literally "Faith, Family, Freedom."  What the f*ck the first two have to do with a House seat.

Not a chance in hell in that district. He'll win by a 20 point margin

Nothing, unless you're running for office in SC.  It's like Iowa and corn.

Let me get this straight...
The party of family values and personal responsibility has nominated a guy who abandoned his job and his constituents and destroyed his family so he could have sexy time with his Latin American mistress (now fiance'), is that about right?

Their re-branding strategy clearly needs some fine tuning.

Said he was hiking on the Appalachian trial... Was actually chasing Argentinian tail. Way to go GOP SC family value voters.

To be fair, he did ask Jenny Sanford (his ex-wife) to run his comeback campaign.  He values his (ex-)family ('s money)!

Don't understand the people here. I don't understand their support for this guy.
He took out a full page ad in the paper talking about how he was committed to his sons. Just not his wife, I guess.
And there was plenty of criticism that he was derelict in his duty in going to Argentina to literally dick around, what made anyone so sure he wasn't going to do it again?
And his campaign signs were plywood pieces spraypainted with "Sanford Saves Taxes $$$". I don't know of anyone who thought that was a good ad campaign. But it must be this grey tide who only go out to vote, golf, and quibble over medication at the Walgreens. He must just have had the name recognition without people actually remembering why they did.

The other Repub candidates weren't anything different, they just didn't have the same name recognition, nor the same baggage. No idea.

The real kicker is that Mark Sanford technically doesn't even live in this district.

Granted it's conservative, but she IS narrowly ahead in the polling and Romney "only" got 58% of the vote. It's not a lock Sanford will win. He'll get the straight-ticket voting types ("I'd rather a liar than a commie") and those who vote only on name recognition, but there are plenty of party-line Republicans who didn't like him even when he was Governor because of his strong libertarian tendencies.

So, he's a job creator, then? Excellent! That changes everything.

I understand the implied meaning, but their campaign ads and materials were even lighter on substance than even dog-whistle platitudes would be.

Busch is doing a pretty quiet job of campaigning from my perspective.  I follow the news daily, although I don't watch it on TV and I fast-forward any commercials on the DVR.  I know her party affiliation and who her brother is... not helpful.

And on top of that, he did it on the tax payers dime and lied his ass off about it.  AND violated state law by leaving the state without notification.

The guy is lousy with family values BALLS. He asked his ex, the woman he humiliated on the national stage, to run his campaign. AND he didn't offer to pay her until she told him no.
