Bubba Watson may well be the coolest golfer out there.  Of course, it is a low bar.

I enjoyed watching him play before he won his first pro tournament.  And it's really great watching him win.  Then you find out he's a cool/crazy/nice guy.  Pro Golf needs more like him.

"That's how I got started - driving a golf-cart and golf got in the way."

Awesome.

Yeah it's pretty hard not to like the guy.  Doesn't take himself too seriously, and it's fun to watch him hit a boomerang hook out of the woods from 90 yards that probably nobody else on the planet can hit.

Bubba is awesome. He and Keegan are my two favorites on tour, although Keegan took a small drop in my eyes when I saw him at the bar on Monday. Drinking a Corona. With a lime.

It looked like he was driving (piloting?) through a few people's games. Sadly for them, Golf Cart Hovercraft > Golf Course Etiquette.

/Golf Cart Hovercraft > most things.

If you would have asked me, before I read this, what Keegan Bradley drank, I would have said "Corona, with lime". He's just that type of guy.

It's like saying "Webb Simpson enjoys the occasional mimosa with brunch, but his cocktail of choice is a single malt". Sometimes, you can look at a guy and just know.

If you put it like that I guess I could give him a pass considering we were at a tiki bar on the intracoastal.

But at least mix it up and have a Kilik or an Imperial or something other than a Corona.

Probably the stupidest idea evar.  Seriously, have you heard how loud those things are?  And you want that on a golf course where old rich people get pissed even when you whisper while they are trying to tee off or make a putt?  Also the amount of air blown around gotta be great for the course.

Bubba Watson is NOT cool.  He is a maniac Jesus freak with some kind of epic meltdown career explosion type event waiting -    some serious issues brewing just underneath his current facade

and his wife is a 0 out of 10 when standing next to the other tour wives -

To be fair his name is Bubba
Seems to me he is more " Hold my beer and watch this y'all"  as opposed to "We don't get your kind 'round here"

The one time I was near a hovercraft I got the shait blasted out of me by flying pebbles.  Unless the technology has improved to solve that problem I can't see this going anywhere.

Can't be as loud as the railyard behind my local course

Or the fighter jets and bombers that routinely flew over a course I played at.

See the long, skinny things going NW and SE on each side of the course? Ever have a T-38 go full-afterburner in the middle of your backswing?

Costs 3-4 times as much as golf cart
? times as loud a golf cart
Consumes ? times as much energy
Guessing hovercraft don't run on batteries

So, maybe works as a gimmick if you want to charge some people extra.
I would pay it. Probably wouldn't play golf though, and would annoy people who were.

Screw it, they should just set up a hovercraft rental place.

The video notes that the "impact" on the grass is actually *less* (and significantly so) than the human foot. Because it's being spread out over a greater area. So it'll do less damage than the golfers walking already do. And certainly less damage than carts do (although carts usually are supposed to stick to cart paths, but people break this rule all the time anyway).

Doesn't count.  :)  That's *on* a USAF base.  Many, if not most, of them have golf courses.

Try the Pasadena Municipal Golf Course if you like T38s:

I live in one of the neighborhoods South of that...my windows rattle on the weekends.  Freakin' NASA.

I don't think air hurts grass, but nice try.
