His trainer has him running around on bosu non-sense instead of pulling and pushing a farking heavy sled. Hope all those fast-twitch calf muscles help you with your goal of losing weight (they won't). He should be lifting heavy for medium reps, fixing his farking diet, and training for explosiveness and speed. Not this mickey-mouse bullshiat.

He needs to do cardio more than balance and core. They need a video of him running the track or treadmill, not lifting weights on a balance ball.

Yes, cardio is a good thing but how much continuous running does a QB do in a game? He's going to have at least 30 seconds to recover after every 8-10 seconds of heavy activity.Also, it's hard to say how good or bad his cardio is right now. There are a lot of fat athletes (like linemen) that have amazing cardio for their size... probably better cardio than a random pro baseball power hitter who would be 50 or 60 lbs lighter.
degenerate-afro: I'm not trying to compare him to a lineman, I'm trying to compare him to other QBs. Even most tanks sized QBs, Roethlisberger for example, can run when needed. If he can't get away from people like Wilfork, Ngata, Pouha, Williams, or Atkins, then there's a big problem. Yes, I know people like Ngata have chased down much faster people from behind, but you don't want to have standing still speed around them either.

There is no Olympic medal for throwing a football, but there is one for throwing a javelin. And Russell has experience in this sport, having done it when he was in high school in Mobile, Alabama.What he needs to do is to quit mucking around with football, and restart flinging the javelin again. World class javelin throwers are big stocky fellows anyway, just think how much of an advantage he would have if he got his fat ass into the throws. Let's face it, the man is a PR nightmare as a football player----but with the proper coaching and PR team, he could be an Olympic champion---the feelgood comeback story of the year.

Magorn: you'll never lose weight working out. period. Science has proved it an my anecdotal expeirence backs it up AFAIC. I was once a 330lb gym rat who worked out every single day, including weekends and holidays, for at least an hour a day of cardio and weights, and while I was a 330lb lummox who could run a few miles and do a fair number of pull-ups, I was still 330.(and eventually climbed to 370) . Eating lo-carb OTOH? lost weight like a motherfarker. Workouts were twice a week or less but dropped 100lbs in just under 3 months (ten years later doing it again but this time its only 45 lbs in the last almost 4 months but I started at 270 this time)

Jubeebee: The Bears released a gallery of gym pictures the other day. I don't know if it was Roberto Garza benching 135lb, or a bearded Jay Cutler doing lunges with 95lb, but something about them made me think that the players aren't taking organized workouts very seriously yet.
