Here's another one. As you can see by the clock it's a little past noon. That would be the brightest part of the day and some pedestrians are actually encased in their own personal cloud of pollution. Hats were worn, not to be fashionable but to keep pieces of soot from settling in their hair... OHMAHGAWD! Look! Typewriter store!
I wonder if they had typewriter nerds back then. "Greetings, store owner. I can type 120 words per minutes. Can your typewriter keep up? I would like to try this new machine. I see you have extensive plastic parts. Is that innovation or are you just kowtowing to the Japanese knockoff market? I think I shall give it a simple test. (type type type) Ug! I knew I was a Royal man for a reason. I could barely get 30 words per minute on this thing. The keys are not tactile and the return lever is in the completely wrong position. I also suspect the ribbon will not last long. Good day, sir. I shall take my business down the street for I know there are several typewriter stores in this district alone.

Happy fun times with Happy Panda Breathing Masks! With Panda Breathing Masks, you can enjoy the outdoors longer without the pesky coughing or vomiting ruining your day. Having been there while we were building a manufacturing plant in Beijing recently, I can attest to how horrible the situation over there really is.
The problem is that the Government of China is far worse than any corporation ever dreamed of being.  They don't give a rats ass about the people in any way shape or form.
They simply do NOT care.
One large earthquake would level Beijing because they have NO building codes at all.  The only requirement is the payoff of government officials.
China woke up too late and is the largest economic and environmental disaster this planet will ever see.
It's going to be awesome to watch, but the farrout is going to be horrific and worldwide.

xria: I like this comment below the article:

China reaps the poisonous fruit of generations of failed central economic planning. It's no coincidence that the world's Communist nations are also its worst polluters

Because capitalist countries would never do anything like that...things like governments in western democracies having to pass clean air acts or car emissions regulations is laughable on the face of it, because freely operating private businesses and individuals will just do the right thing in keeping air clean without the heavy hand of government forcing them to pollute.

Dude, everyone knows that Richard Nixon was a no-good commie rat bastard.

Every chinese factory I've been to, 90% of them smoke, so what's the difference?  They're all going to die early anyway.
