Jim from Saint Paul: t3knomanser: Rocket To Russia: Voyager was so bad it only ran for seven seasons?! How embarrassing!

What else was UPN going to put in that timeslot?

Well...

Basically Voyager was the shiniest turd in the bowl.

Hey, I liked Seven Days.

FirstNationalBastard: You Are All Sheep: I liked Voyager :(

Voyager was good, as long as it was a Doctor episode, or maybe a 36D of Nine episode.

Otherwise... no. Just no.

Yes, she was eye candy.

Don't let that distract you from the idea that she was a very unique character who got to experience things that no other ST character had. 7 of 9 was a great character.

The Voyager episodes I always end up re-watching always involve either The Doctor or Seven. Or, the occasional episode where it's about both of them.

/Chakotay gets Seven? fark you, producers. It should have been The Doctor and Seven hooking up at the end of the show, perhaps while the Doctor beats Andy Dick EMH Mark 2 to death with a crowbar.

It's a good thing that got canceled before 9/11. That would have been awwwwwkward.

FirstNationalBastard: If they had to do a prequel, season 4 was what the show should have been from the beginning. When Berman and Braga had basically washed their hands of the show and let Manny Coto and the Reeves-Stevenses take over and run the asylum like the fanboys they all were, that made Enterprise what it should have been.

Season 4 answered questions people had, tied stuff into the rest of the series, and felt like what was happening 100 years before TOS, and were actually building to the birth of the Federation and the Romulan War instead of whatever Berman and Braga were thinking of when they did the whole stupid temporal cold war thing and basically said "fark what happened before and what the people might want to see."

/although, Berman and Braga did "care" enough to come back and take a big dump on everything with The Pegasus part 1.5 as the series finale.

Stop with the stupid B&B-hating fanboy re-writing of history. It was Berman and Braga who brought Coto on board and they were still active with the story-breaking and script development of the 4th season.

And at least the temporal cold war was somewhat original for TREK and therefore interesting.

No, fanboy rewriting of history would be the quite popular "Berman was the worst thing to ever happen to Star Trek!!!11" line of thinking many have fallen for, even though Berman was part of the reason TNG morphed from Roddenberry's crappy new show to Best of Both Worlds in a little over a season.

But Berman and Braga were out of steam by the time Enterprise came about, and the show suffered because of them.

There's a REASON this is my favorite "Lorne" quote from Angel:

[Angel, Spike, and Lorne think Eve had something to do with what's infecting Fred]
Lorne:  If I hear one note, one quarter note, that tells me you had any involvement, these two won't even have *time* to kill you.
[Lorne backs away]
Lorne:  Oh, and anything by Dianne Warren will also result in your death. Well, except "Rhythm of the Night".

When did the Average Asian Aging Process strip get cut in half? I've not seen the original on Fark for a while.

I hated Enterprise when it was on TV, and then I went back and watched it on Netflix and actually got through the first season... And it got good. REALLY good. By the end of it, I was mad that they'd canceled it.

So I'd be up for an Enterprise series that takes place a few years later, but I doubt Paramount would do that and risk screwing up the Abrams series.

I just wanted to note that Bakula is an old school Trekkie and was basically contracted to act whatever they wrote for him (though I'm sure some of the better writers were open to feedback from both Scott and the rest of the cast). Tell me you wouldn't put out the occasional shiat ep for a chance to skipper an on-screen  Enterprise yourself.

And don't BS, when they gave Bakula decent material to work with he produced gold.

Me too.

You know, I've been coming around to your chaotic approach to Fark, but this is unconscionable.  You are DEAD TO ME.

/I periodically text my sister "It's been a long road..." and get back nothing but profanity for reminding her it exists.

I agree that Enterprise started to get better before they canned it, but I still have to say DS9 is the best Star Trek series for one reason. Garak. That is all.

Hoshi seemed to get hotter as the show progressed. I would not have complained if, by some miracle, either Hoshi or T'Pol appeared in my bedchamber freshly bathed.

I laughed when Reed was drunk and yammering about T'Pol's rear end. "She's got a nice bum!"

That was just about the ONLY TV or film depiction of time travel that took into account planetary movement. So it had that going for it.

It just got monotonous. Something happens then janeway, belana and/or 7 fix the problem. Various other cast members wander around and say things. Repeat.

Honestly it would have been easier for them to just find a child prodigy to solve all their problems.

According to the books that come after the series Seven decides to not peruse her relationship with Chakotay, leaving him to chase after......wait for it......Admiral Janeway?????? WTF?

Come on, like Seven wasn't essentially the Wes of Voyager
/all due respect to  Wil
//all due respect to Jeri Ryan, being a trooper for dealing with those costumes and nailing stellar performances with occasionally suborbital material
/yeah Wil dealt with that too (as does anyone involve with Trek) and seriously nerds we need to get over ourselves

That's the point. all three of them were the Wesley of STV. It was Nancy Drew and the Bopsey Twins got to play space explorers. None of the other characters mattered. I kept expecting the episode where all three of them synced up there cycles. It probably would have happened but Belana got pregnant and Janeway must have hit menopause by season three.

I kid. Though not entirely.

Jerry Ryan was a trooper though.

I never did understand why people transferred their Wesley hate onto WW. He wasn't the writer or director. He was just a kid doing the best he could with the drek they hefted on him. Blame DC Fontana or Gene. Yeah I said it. Wesley Crusher was GR's fault.

Say what you will about Voyager, it beat Dumb Space Nine.

Actual outtake from every Deep Space Nine writers meeting ever:

What should we do for a subplot this week.
Writer 1) I know, Lets have Quark hatch a plan to rip someone off.
Writer 2) and then we'll have Odo catch him.
Writers 1&2) Brilliant!!!
