I'm not sure that the statues in Caesar's Palace are historically accurate.

You should go back to Vegas. The image I linked to is the original Greek statue housed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

If they truly wanted to reflect todays modern standards, the updated Mona Lisa would be making a duckface.

Coastalgrl: As my boss put it (who is male), "Women have a tough gig these days. Society expects them to have a successful rewarding career, have 2.5 kids, take care of the house and look hot doing it"

All of which is a standard that women set. Society changed because women changed...not men. Studies show women have been getting unhappier over the years, and they did it to themselves. I'm sure they'll all blame men, of course.

Fano: ladyfortuna: Bonzo_1116:
The tits are bigger, and the faces are also changed.  The chins are narrower, the lips wider and more smiley, and straight high-bridged Roman/Greek noses were swapped for smaller bridges and a upturned tip.

^ I'm guessing most of you guys who failed to notice this part didn't look past the first thing that jumped out at you. Most of them have much wider mouths now and it was really kind of creepy.

Apparently I'd have been quite above average back in the day. Who knew.

You magnificent bastard! I had almost forgotten the horrible sounds that thing made. Now it's stuck in my head.

True but increasingly guys are facing unrealistic demands as well. God forbid one of us wants to be a good dad instead of just a work slave.

I took 3 months FMLA when my son was born. I knew I was quiting that job so it wasnt a big deal but it would have killed my promotion chances had I stayed.

No farking way.  The idiots with money to pay anorexic, anemic female adolescents to model their clothes in no way get to define beauty.

BolloxReader: You know, my girl has some wonderful, beautiful curves and just a bit of a bellly. Nowhere near even Rubenesque. Yet she feels that because she isn't a size zero she can't really be very attractive. Despite her rejection of feminism she feels the social pressure to look like the gals in many of the retouched paintings.

Um, I think I see her problem:
It's possible to embrace the non-crazy parts of feminism, so she can be comfortable with her own healthy body, without going all Andrea Dworkin.

/never go full Dworkin

2013-04-03 09:48:03 AM

Skinny women are like driving Ferraris...really nice cars, etc, but when it comes to rough and dirty offroad style performance, give me a slightly larger ("average") woman every day.  After 10 years of only dating beautiful skinny girls, I've officially changed my stance on this...a few extra pounds is absolutely ok, not to mention these girls are far more greatful and more accepting in general.  Give me a Kate Upon over a Kate Moss any day...

Fano: Ed Becker: The "new" version of the Mona Lisa looks like Earl from Red Meat.

Lol, I was trying to figure if she looked Uma Thurmanish, but I think you nailed it.

I was thinking she reminded me of Summer Glau.

2013-04-03 12:53:38 PM
I like the old ones better.  FARKING an overly-skinny chick is like falling onto a bag of antlers.

/A little cushion for...well, you know.

Sweet merciful heaven, you're gorgeous!

Waist-too-hip ratio might be what men actually want but it's hardly the norm for a woman in the entertainment industry. People like the Olsen Twins, Angelina Jolie, and a slew of runway models are what are held up as the standard most women want to achieve. Hell, even Kate Middleton is considered to be a physical ideal every woman should want to strive to be regardless of her narrow hips and relatively low waist-to-hip ratio. These are not necessarily the women men want, they're the women entire industries says women should try to emulate. Which was where the strangely skinny looks in the altered images come from. Not from the hearts of men, but from the hearts of women who see that pressure to be thin enough.
