I've never met him, but a few Farkers like you have claimed to and all have said he was very nice but way back when 15-20 years ago I heard the exact opposite - also on the internet so take that for what it's worth.

Maybe what I read was written by someone with an axe to grind who hated him - or maybe he's changed. At any rate, the account I initially read about him was that he was a free-loading slob who disrespected everyone. It's been a long time so I won't try to make up details to fill in the blanks that I don't remember but it was not a very flattering description of him as a person - much like his hedgehog-like body.

He's definitely a legend and an American icon though and I wish him well. I do appreciate the many forgotten starlets more though. Face it, most of us weren't watching the movies he was in to see him.

Sorta OT, but the thing I love about those Cialis ads (or any boner pill commercial, it seems) is that they have to warn people that the pills don't protect you from STDs. Are people really that stupid?

Nevermind, don't answer that.

From Ron Jeremy dot com

"Ron's near death experience means some changes in lifestyle and diet, but mostly diet.

"Eating healthy food is depressing, but it's keeping me alive," he said, adding that he and his prolific member plan to return to light TV and film work and personal appearances by mid-March.

"My dad is 94 and still going strong. He got mad at me for this. He jokes that he and my mom gave me the perfect body, and I screwed it up," Jeremy said.
"We gave you a Rolls-Royce, and you turned it into a Volkswagen,"

It was at the premiere of "Porn Star: The Legend of Ron Jeremy", so that'd make it 11 years ago or so.  He was certainly cordial.  Definitely more interested in the female guests than the males, and he wanted five bucks for an autographed Polaroid, but hey, he was paying for the film.  No complaints, and I got a brief chat and a souvenir.

Yeah called being fat isn't good for your heart. I'm sure the doctor failed to tell him "both the things you have are caused by high blood pressure that's being caused by your being fat."

According to his autobiography (which is a surprisingly good read) he never got an STD on the job after doing more than a thousand films. He was just lucky, particular about his partners-- despite appearances-- and meticulous about cleaning up when the job was done. He always advocated testing, and he believes condoms would kill the business-- He says actors don't mind wearing them, but viewers don't want to see them. They ruin the fantasy.

Either way, he's not the right guy to pick if you want to make an STD joke. He has remained clean all these years.

That's not reality based.  According to the leading actors in interview, every professional porn actor has herpes (or something like 66% of working actors)  It's just accepted because it's non-fatal.  BTW, you are aware that herpes is endemic and that 50% of adult americans will have it by 2030?  And that's just us regular people.
Here's an old link of Belladonna saying she was quitting because she got the herps back in 2007:

Hint:  She didn't quit and isn't using condoms.

He SAYS he has remained clean. I am willing to bet he hasn't. Especially herpes and HPV, which nearly everyone in porn has (and a lot of regular people do, too)

ZeroCorpse: He says actors don't mind wearing them, but viewers don't want to see them. They ruin the fantasy.

The fantasy is that I'm not focusing on Ron Jeremy's penis. That may not be the same for all viewers. I don't care if the male actors wear condoms or not. Sometimes porn proudly proclaims bareback. Well, good for them. I guess that appeals to some people.

I've had real life experiences where I blew off wearing one and others where I left a strange girl in my apartment and told her I'd be back in 10 minutes as I went to get one. I didn't think there was an appreciable difference in pleasure in the very short term but I felt a whole lot better the next morning when I knew I significantly reduced my risk of catching anything.
I've learned my lesson a long time ago. I'm fully stocked up on condoms because you never know when you may need one.

I have a theory that if everyone in the world either insisted on using condoms (even if they occasionally did break) until and unless they knew their partner were disease free and stayed in a monogamous relationship that we could eliminate at least most STDs. I see no plausible reason why this wouldn't work. I don't mean most of us, I mean every single human being on the face of the earth. One bad apple can spoil the bunch.

Your theory would be wrong so long as people got chicken pox and shingles. They're the same virus as herpes. And HPV runs rampant too even without sexual contact.

However, it would probably diminish the spread of HIV, and the clap.

Partial win then?

And where does syphillis work into this?

HIV is the scariest as we don't have a cure and it can lead to death. We have cures for G & S (Sorry, my spelling sucks, so I'll abbreviate), but those can be bad. HPV? Okay, so my theory might not stop that. Okay.

I feel compelled to say that I met him once and he was genuine, funny and nice. He seemed to actually care about other people. Rare for celebrities. He was very relaxed and was cool to the people who approached him. It would not be easy to have people coming up to you all of the time for pictures or autographs, etc but he handled it quite well. I've been around other "celebrities" who were far less tolerant of "people" approaching them (though one time I was on a flight with Orville Redenbacher and someone went up to him and he handed them a card that said "I had a personal encounter with Orville Redenbacher" which I thought was clever:)
