and yeah, this is larger proof that Vertigo is dead.  An imprint dedicated to dashing the superhero genre as a requirement in comics and to challenge the assumptions of what a comic can be adds a giant depiction of a superhero world to its line.  I loved AC, bought the freaking hard backs, but it is in no way a Vertigo-esque book.  It challenges nothing of the comic sensibilities but it is well-written and drawn.

TelemonianAjax: I'm ok with Vertigo for AC, because that means new AC!  If you're not happy about that, you don't like comics.

Of course, I also don't like Sandman (or anything by Gaiman) and don't have fond memories of Vertigo's heyday.  Those brain holes are all filled with encyclopedic knowledge about every X book published 1992-2001.  And I like it that way.

/Bring it.

If this is how you feel about comics, you dont understand comics.

Actually, that's proof that Vertigo is pretty much dead.

Astro City is a good book, but it isn't a Vertigo book.

So, it looks like DC is just using Vertigo as a catch-all imprint for books that don't fit in their Rastafied NuCrap universe, much the same way Wildstorm was used for various and random books when it was still around.
