Because Colt's ability to play QB in the NFL is roughly on par with that of a tackling dummy?

Even though the Huskers lost the Big 12 title game, it was nice of Suh to give McCoy an accurate picture of how his pro career would go.

Playing QB on a Harbaugh coached team adds about +20 to the QB rating, so maybe he'll be good (if Kaep gets hurt.)

The 9ers signed a couple of QB's not just McCoy. He'll have to fight it out in pre-season to see if he's the backup QB or on the practice squad.

Who? The only other QBs on the roster are Kaep and Scott Tolzein.

More importantly, why have the Vikings not signed Ryan Fitzpatrick, who, in full beard, could pull double duty as quarterback and mascot?

The Vikings didn't sign Fitzpatrick because he was scooped up pretty quickly by the Tennessee Titans to become Jake Locker's younger, but still smart, backup.

Matt Flynn in for the win.

Good , good. I like the idea of Frisco surrounding Harbaugh with guys who will make him throw spectacular tantrums. This is a coaching decision holdover from the Singletary era that I hope never changes

That said, he's STILL a better QB than Teblow.

Yeah, I just saw that. Honestly did not know. Guess I know what movie Fitzmagic will be watching all season.

Don't forget the free points to the QB rating just for not playing for the Browns any more.

In our defense, by the time a Quarterback leaves Cleveland, they're usually ruined. Look up Tim Couch, Charlie Frye, Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn's stats post-Browns and tell me that they got better.

Tolzien looked pretty good in the preseason a few years ago with the Chargers. I'd figure with Harbaugh as his coach he's probably got a shot at being a good backup.

Possibly. I was just questioning the claim that the 49ers signed a couple of QBs other than Mccoy.

Colt McCoy? I thought Harridon killed him.

/oh it was just his career that died

I thought Vince Young would have been good fit for the 49ers, at least VY has some experience with the zone read and they could have got him for league minimum probably and without having to give up a draft pick.

I remember that. He THREW McCoy about 2-3 yards in the air.

Slight threadjack: If you were writing a fictional movie script about a college football starting quarterback at Texas and you named the character "Colt McCoy" wouldn't you be laughed out of the room at the pitch meeting? Told to 'take it down a notch?'

That said, I think anyone named 'Colt McCoy' has a future as a hard-drinking private investigator.

As a Wisconsin guy.. Tolzien was my only reason to cheer between those two turdwagons in the superbowl, that said Scott sneaks up on you, he was pretty much a nobody at wisconsin and worked is way up to starter. Hes not amazing but I'd take him over McCoys Cleveland taint anyday

Totally, i mean Derreck Anderson, Brady Quinn, and Tim Couch totally lit up the league after leaving Cleveland huh?   THEY made Cleveland bad, not vice versa.

And Harbaugh was able to help Alex Smith mentally, but McCoy's deficiencies have a lot to do with physical.

Call me crazy, but I still think Colt could be a good NFL quarterback. I'm not saying he's going to be the next Drew Brees or anything, but I think he has the talent to be an above average QB. I was a huge fan of his in college, and think he has a real shot on a decent team.

That said, of course he wasn't going to succeed in Cleveland, and I'm not sure if he's been permanently broken with Carr Syndrome, but a man can dream.
