It's worth a lot more than $8 and a candy bar if it's actually from Mercury.

Check back tomorrow?

There is reason detailed in the paper why this might be a chunk knocked off of Mercury. I'm certainly not qualified to say one way or the other, from what it says it has (among other things) the same chemical signatures as what little we know of Mercury.

Google:  "Angrite" or  "NWA 2999"

I bought a piece from the original collector, 0.366gm, on spec that it could be a meteorite from Mercury.  Cannot be proven until a probe lands there, though.
I also have a piece of a proven Lunar meteorite (NWA 2977), and a proven Martian meteorite (DaG 476).
Cool the stuff you can collect, when you know where to look...

/the lunar one has the most "wow" factor.
//less interest in the Mars one.
///~$1K/gm for Mars and Moon.

Pretty freaky that a chunk from Mercury was able to get all the way to here considering the Sun's gravity well.

Unless Mercury was in a very different orbit back then.

Morocco seems to have more its fair share of cool meteorites and stuff. Neat find, if real.

Depends on the age. Pretty freaky to think that every molecule of H2O in your body started out a lot closer to the sun too, but that's the current thinking.

NWA 7325 is unlike anything space researchers have seen before, leading them to theorize that it came from Mercury.

No space researcher has seen my anus before. Does that mean my asshole is from Mercury? Good to know. If I ever decide to pimp myself out I'll be sure to charge a little something extra.

Do you really want the probing necessary to either prove or disprove that your anus is remarkable?

That would be a pretty poor prank if it is.

- Say something a bit out of the ordinary but otherwise entirely plausible
 HA HA I FOOLED YOU.

That said, your post did remind me (forgive the threadjack) to see what Thinkgeek dreamt up for their usual April Fool's fake product page, as IIRC the actual and quite well regarded iCade did come out of that. This year's Star Wars trench scene bag toss and possibly the Playmobil Apple store playset look to me like they could have real product potential.

And maybe the Batman family car stickers, though it was only upon a second glace I spotted the parents indicated with gravestones.

Not sure of what you mean? From the way I have been taught, all water is from comets bombarding the earth for millions and millions and millions of years. What did you hear?

Could be referring to the fact that every atom in your body was created in a supernova.  And the atoms in your left hand were most likely created in a different supernova than those in your right hand.
