His son is getting cozy with Senator Kyl's cousin. It's hot mormon boy on mormon boy action. Too bad both are Log Cabin Republicans.

He is doing this out of religious conviction and not hate. This is very believable because saying you accept homosexuality as normal will get your ass chewed by the base if you are a Republican.

I can never understand Log Cabin Republicans. The Republican party actively HATES everything about you. If there was a magic button they could press which would exterminate you all from the face of the earth for all time they would press it in an instant without a moment's regret. By joining this party you are basically saying "I care more about my bank balance than I do about my basic human rights".

I'm sure the self loathing helps drive them, too.

Because there are those who have significant right leaning views and the Republican party is the big dog in the house.

If you dont try to change them then what hope do you have of them accepting homosexuals?

The problem is that they just don't listen clearly.

Instead of accepting homosexuals, they're busy excepting homosexuals.

I wouldn't say that they stand to benefit economically from Republican leaders either. Really only 9-figure net worth people do better financially with Republicans. Everyone else generally suffers from Republican economic policies.

Certainly not.  Caterpillars metamorphose(is that right?) into beautiful creatures that fulfill a vital function in the circle of life.

Republicans don't change, though they are GREAT at destroying plant life and ecosystems.  Caterpillars need to step up their game if they hope to compete.

The key, he said, was not to shut them out regardless of their politics

That's a a shame; I was hoping if the father couldn't be swayed on gay marriage by his gay son, his gay son could be swayed by his father on the subject of family reunions.

I'm not sure I agree with your assessment. Call me skeptical, but I get the impression that his position is neither due to religious conviction nor "hate". I get the notion that his statement are based on electability, considering his location.

He's just saying "I love my son, but I love Jesus more. And something about freedom."

It's actually worse that he doesn't think it's a choice, because that means that he thinks his own son is intrinsically "less than," and needs to be socially punished for something he cannot help.  I will never understand the other gays who think people like this can be "brought around" through love and tolerance.  If you can look your own child in the eyes and say "fark you and your whole future" over this one meaningless, arbitrary thing, you can't really be brought around, you're just a bad person.

I hope he feels awful on the inside, if only because I want him to suffer.

That assumes they're already rich, because otherwise the GOP hasn't done jack shiat to help their bank accounts.

There's always room if he wants to become a libertarian.  All he needs to do is stop giving a shiat about what doesn't cause harm to other's life, liberty or property through fraud or force.  That includes worrying about whether or not his queer son sticks his dick in queer sauce or gets queer married.  It just doesn't farking matter.  You don't have to approve but you don't deny it to others.

Yeah, but that tax on investment income under Obamacare is 3.8%.  Three point eight percent.  On the one hand, sure people I vote for want to deny me civil rights and make it illegal to have sex.  On the other hand, I have to pay 23.8% total tax on capital gains and qualified dividends which is pretty much hitler.

Kind of a no-brainer, isn't it.

You'll find more people don't like it but aren't going to get up in arms over it.  I detest the idea of other men sticking their dicks in other men but I'll be damned if I'm going to deny them anything because of it.  Somebody might not like something I do.  Why should I give them any incentive to try to use force to deny me what I like?  So to ensure my sinning isn't outlawed I have no choice but to accept theirs.  It's the only way liberty can exist.

2013-04-01 11:38:30 PM
It's understandable why some homosexuals vote for the GOP. They value their bank account more than their civil rights.

Lionel Mandrake: "Family Values"

Well, at least he's apparently an actual Christian, if he's going with "love the sinner, but don't enable the sin".  It's certainly a step up from the WBC-style bullshiat that's more common.

Kome: Fancy way of saying you don't actually love your son.

That's a bit harsh, are you really saying that you don't love your family members if you don't support every single thing they do and every single aspect of their lifestyle, whether you think it's destructive or not?  Because you're sort of nixing the concept of loving one's family altogether if that's actually where you draw the line.
