Tokyo Drift was actually better than 2 Fast. It's been nothing but testosteronegasm since then. shiat explodes and sweet cars get destroyed.

Not sure how Riddick could be in that territory, there've only been two of them.

There's a third Riddick movie coming later this year...

I've generally enjoyed the F&F movies, and they do seem to get better with each sequel which is refreshing.

The territory of movies I have never seen and will never see?

I saw ten minutes of I think the third movie on HBO; if there was ever a movie that could be labeled "sub-mental," this was it.

I have nothing against action movies, but it's just witless mussel car porn.

Mussels can drive cars or is there a car shaped like a mussel?

Ya know, He is a smart guy, he has to be crying inside every time he has to do another one of these to pay for his house.

The first one was awesome, but then, it was like 19 in 2000.The 4th one was good, where that annoying chick dies? They have Vin Diesel go into dark quiet mode for like the whole film. Kind of a departure from the norm. And c'mon, Fast Five was hilariously over the top and awesome./the Rock in his best comedic role since Be Cool // "you know I like my desert first"/not an April fools post, you may now commence calling me a "sheeple", but make sure to use the word "tripe" as well

I thought a part seven was already pretty much confirmed when AICN had a scoop about the secret big bad who shows up at the end of part six (no spoilers, in case sometime actually cares).

/enjoyed Fast Five. Never saw the rest.

The studio knows these movies are garbage, but people still watch em anyway. They captured a demographic with the first one and just keep putting film after film out knowing those then 18 year olds now, now thirty year olds, will keep going back time and time again.

At first to live vicariously and emulate the films, now to try and relive some sad sense of youth.

Not to mention hes a pretty good actor when the movie doesn't call for him to be Big McLargeHuge every single role.

Hopefully he's reached the state of Zen Michael Caine found, where the movie quality doesn't matter as long as it pays the bills

They are like horror movies. The plot is borderline irrelevant; it just needs some action, some car chase scenes, some explosions, and someone yelling "NOS!!!!" every once in a while.

They will keep churning these out until there is no money to be made. Fast and furious (the 2010 one) made $350 million on an $85 million budget, Fast 5 made $650 million on a $125 million budget. Hollywood doesn't care about quality/awards...they care about money. So if they create another $150 million movie and earn another $500 million...there is gonna be fast 8, fast 9, and fast 15...

I think there was a straight-to-DVD animated film as well, if you want to count that.

I'd rather see Hollywood fixated on muscle-car movies than another string of torture-porn flicks.

Not until they have a TV show and animated series.

Here's how I look at it:

They are movies. About cars. Many, many cool cars. I'll even make allowances for the ricers. We do not have enough movies about cars. We can never have enough movies about cars. These movies are not meant to be taken intellectually. In fact, most movies are not meant to be taken intellectually. Those who have to pundit about how stupid movies are, usually are not as intelligent as they'd like to believe themselves to be.

As such, I say bring on Fast and Furious 6 through 209. I want NOS on jet cars, spaceships and quantum warp probes.

/I also want a quality remake of "Vanishing Point"

The second one was better, F&F has gotten better the drift ones sucked.

Three... and another one due later this year... Keep up. The other was cartoonish but it is listed on IMDB. I didn't even know about the latest until last night when I happened to browse the upcoming movies.

I agree... I enjoyed them all. Tokyo Drift not as much as the rest but I have seen worse movies.

F&F is dumb, but it's entertaining, which is better than most of the dumb movies that come out of Hollywood.

As if Hollywood would let a remake end the same way the original did.

In fact, odds are it would be a 90 minute long ad for the new Corvette as the driver updates his twitter on his new iPhone.

/reading that over, I come off being very pessimistic/hipsterish...

The problem is the first film he could be full of menace and you could never be sure if the rest of the cast were more in danger from him or the aliens until very late on. Anything after the first immediately becomes grudging generic action hero saves the day once again. Some films/characters only work the once, sort of like with Highlander - there can be only one.

/Luckily with Highlander they knew this and never made a sequel

F & F is so horrible that I laughed through the entire first movie.  I would love the laugh fest that I am sure are the rest but my IQ can't take the hit.  Horribly bad acting.  I actually like Vin d, but those movies are horrible and Paul Walker is like a mannequin.

The reason Highlander didn't get a sequel is because it bombed, didn't start making money until DVDs.

The first movie was Point Break with cars. I can't imagine it improved after that though hopefully the other 5 movies didn't have Paul Walker whining about NOS like Luke crying about a power converter.
