VERY GRAPHIC CONTENT. You will be able to see the bone sticking out of the leg.

For those who missed it.

Be Ware.

That gif is gone apparently...just the bench reaction.  Anyone got a working link?

I didn't read every post, but just to clean up the terminology from the first 50 or so....

"Compound Fracture" means multiple breaks in a bone. It does not mean the bone protrudes through the skin.

"Open Fracture" means the bone is sticking out of the skin.

It so happens this was both, but folks above are using "compound" to describe the wrong part of the injury.

Oh, and 1.5 on the Theismann scale but 0.5 Malarchuks as it's not nearly as immediately life-threatening as a sliced jugular.

Just so you know, you are incorrect.

Compound Fracture
n.
A fracture in which broken bone fragments lacerate soft tissue and protrude through an open wound in the skin.

It has nothing to do with multiple of anything.

OK: How can there NOT be blood gushing out of that wound? I've crashed a MX Motorcycle and gashed my leg on the footpeg in the same area as this wound but obviously a much smaller cut and it bled like a stuck pig. Is it just timing and moments after this pic the blood started?

I'm pretty sure that has something to do with it.

Sorry UK got kicked out of the NIT, but that doesn't mean you need to spread BS. Stephan Van Treese had an injury that lasted over a year, and he was given a second redshirt and kept his scholarship. Mike Marra had a career ending injury but kept his scholarship and is now a student coach. Ware will get a medical redshirt if needed next year, but his scholly isn't going anywhere.

...sweet mother of Fark, that goes way the hell past Theismann, past Barbaro, and into "Please tell me someone shopped that from Ogrish.com or the like because Jesus gawddamn ballbearing baby Christ I didn't know someone's limb could DO that outside of a Nightmare on Elm Street sequel".  Not quite Malarchuk level (less life threatening, apparently it missed arteries) but....gah, what can be seen cannot be unseen INDEED.

I'm upgrading this to THREE Theismanns.  We definitely have a new ANSI standard for Nightmarish Leg Injuries Occurring In Sports. O_o

Is that an Elisha Justice reference? 1. He came to the school as a walk-on and was never promised a scholarship, and 2. He would have gotten 0 PT this year and chose to transfer. Now he's on scholarship at Pikeville as far as I know, what's the problem? And what does it have to do with a scholarship player getting injured?

I was driving to my Mom's house for Easter and she was like "Some poor kid got hurt in the Louisville game. They say its worse than Theisman." I was like "typical sportscaster melodrama bullshiat." so I looked it up online and was like " OH MAH GOD, MAH GOD KING, THE BOY'S LEG IS BROKE IN HALF, THE DAMN THING BROKE IN HALF" in Jim Ross's voice.

I've seen an injury like that happen mere feet away from me and I ended up doing the first aid until the ambulance got there.  It's a horrific, terrible thing to see, and I don't blame the player/bench reaction one bit.

It was about 1.21 Theismann, and .86 Malarchuk.

I have a pretty tough stomach when it comes to that stuff, but I'd not recommend anyone watch the replay.

FacelessDevil30: Subby, you are a horrible, horrible person.  +1.

Prior to this, the worst injury I'd seen when it happened was McGahee at the Fiesta Bowl, and that was cringe worthy.  Nothing will take that cringe away, but this was worse, plain and simple.

hershy799: I didn't get to watch the game, and I refuse to watch the injury... but on a scale of 1 to Theismann, how bad was the injury?

Based on the Theismann video, I'd say that Theismann's injury was a 7/8 of a Ware.

worst one I've seen as it happened was E.J Henderson breaking his femur

/this one is 9.7 cringes
