It's not Opening Day until they're playing under the sunshine in Cincinnati.

What this 4:10 start vs. the Angels shiat is, I shudder to think.

2013-03-31 06:33:36 PM
I don't think this really qualifies as an MLB game.

last year, ESPN put sunday night games up free on espn3. this year, it's behind an "auth with your cable provider". thanks, big cable, I'll just have to pirate it.

It's a crime that opening day doesn't start with the reds at 1pm

russlar: . thanks, big cable,

And if it's like other stuff, a lot of people won't even find their provider on the list.

I don't think either of those 2 teams won the World Series last year.

It's either this or Spurs/Heat with none of the stars playing. This will have to do. Baseball, chewing up late night boredom for over a hundred years

All of this, with a side of "bite me, ESPN".

But woo, baseball!

Over 4 mil of that is covering Wandy's pay in Pittsburgh.

I dunno why ANY of you are going to cheer for your teams, Its obvious the Blue Jays have already won the world series.

On a serious note, This is actually the first year that anyone I know in Toronto agrees that the blue jays are actually being talked about more than the maple leafs. If the blue jays can actually turn this season into some form of success that is deemed acceptable, they have a shot at breaking the "hockey town" mentality.

The worst part about this is that I pay for mlb.tv and can't watch the game if it is on ESPN since I don't have cable.

Boos for Fat Elvis?

2013-03-31 08:12:53 PM
I have a question for any baseball historians in the house. Here in North Kansas City, there's a bar named Chappell's. It also doubles as a sports museum and every inch of the place is covered with memorabilia. One of the more notable pieces is the 1973 World Series trophy, won by the Oakland A's. How the hell did the owner manage to get it is what I want to know? No way in hell can I see a team selling a WS trophy.

Carlos Pena is the Astro's DH?  I don't think they've got the hang of this AL thing, yet.

Owner must be friends with someone from the days of the Kansas City A's.

Kansas City Athletics, previously the Philadelphia Athletics.

Pfft. Even the logo you posted looks shocked by that statement. I'll take a pass on watching the Tigers put up yet another flacid World Series performance. Make way for a team that can put forth a clutch effort.

Charlie Finnley bought the A's when they were in KC and moved them to Oakland for the 1968 season. Maybe he had ties to the bar owner or something?

Most likely, I still can't see a team selling a World Series trophy though. I'll have to ask the owner next time I'm there.

How many scoring chances are they really going to get? I'd tell Pena to steal if he got walked if I was the coach.

In other Texas news, LeBron and Wade are "injured" and didn't play tonight against San Antonio, in San Antonio. Let's see how big a fine David Stern lays down this time.

That's a good possibility, too.
