I've been watching the marathon for a while now. I'm only on the first encounter with the Daleks with William Hartnell right now, so I'm trying to decide if I want to watch the Pertwee thing.

dongface? really? Listen, if that's the best troll you have, go back to the politics tab.

If I'm going to be on the sofa watching tv anyways (probably will be) then why not watch one of those two? I'll pick the other on demand when it shows up, but it's still a tough choice.

HBO has no commercials.  BBC America does.  Easy solution: Watch Game of Thrones, then watch Spearhead and fastforward through the commercials. (Assuming you have a DVR)

Is there I come to threadshiat and tell everyone how much I hate every direction the show has taken since 1973?  Oh wait, I actually enjoy it, and don't watch shows that anger me, never mind.

To be fair, the TV movie -was- pretty bad.

Spearhead From Space wasn't that great of a Pertwee story.  If you want Third Doctor at his best, try Inferno, Terror of the Autons, Claws of Axos, and Day of the Daleks.

And The Three Doctors is fun, but Omega really suffers from the low budget of the era.

No, it was pretty good, an actual proto NewWho. I'm glad it did not get picked up...the show runner wanted to have the Doctor searching for his Father Ulysses. And he thought that the doctor should be half human.

The show runner also torpedoed an anniversary show that was going to have all the living doctors aboard...

Up to The Leisure Hive in my quest to watch all episodes. The wife loves the new ready for the 80's title sequence but that photo of Baker is awful.

Heh, great episode. Baker was my 1st Doctor...and Leela was my first companion...actually my Dad got into Doctor Who because of Leela! ;

I love the green beehives everyone is sporting in Leisure Hive! Baker was my first Doctor too, and I never thought I'd ever like another doctor better. But after watching the first three docs I'm in a serious quandary. I like them all so damn much and hope to FSM that all the lost Hartnell and Troughton eps are recovered and restored before I kick it.

Jon Pertwee was my first Doctor. When I was very young, I got hooked watching his episodes when they were first broadcast on the BBC (from behind the couch, of course). I don't actually recall much about what I saw at age, but I do remember being very impressed when my Dad showed me some American money when we were getting ready to move back in 1977 that the US had put the Doctor on the twenty dollar bill.

Interesting trivia tidbit:  Jon Pertwee served aboard HMS Hood, but was transferred off in May 1941, very shortly before Hood was dispatched to intercept the Bismarck.

And thank the FSM for that.
