Oh, crap... now you've made this a ginger ale snob thread!

I'll always have a place in my heart for Vernors, and it's the best of the mass market ginger ales... but ginger beer is so damn good.

Huh.  I just realized I haven't had a Boston Cooler in years.

One of the best pizza experiences in America is going to the original Buddy's Pizza in Detroit. When I take people there I always get a "where the fark are you taking me?" response since the neighborhood looks like an atom bomb went off, but once inside it us some of the absolutely best pizza you've ever had.

I think we are finally getting somewhere.  I think I found the main ingredient for the most violent cities in our country, local pizza.  If we could ever agree pizza is just pizza, then the fighting might end.

No it won't, but it is something I noticed and felt like pointing out.  Continue with your munchies wars.

Lemme be a total asshat and clear this thread up for good.  Here's a primer:

PIZZA:  (Patsy's, NYC.  Brick oven, char crust, fresh mozz and basil)

NOT PIZZA: (Geno's, Chicago.  Buttery Shortbread and goo from a pan. Gross, wasted or sober, plus you have to wait 45 minutes for it)

citybuzz.com

DEFINITELY NOT PIZZA!: (Detroit pizza, wtf, looks like it would be good if you were wasted and what the fark is brick cheese?)

scruffynerfherder: I'm from Chicago, and this may be blasphemy, but I enjoy Chicago and NY style pizza equally.   I look at them as two different dishes, and depending on my cravings, that will dictate which I would rather have for my meal.  I like them both equally, although my Chicago pride says Chicago style is still better.  This seems more like a blend of styles, and doesn't seem too appetizing to me.

Indeed the goodness of pizzas only depends on "would you treat this food as if God himself made it for you when you are incredibly drunk?" If yes then it is good pizza and all discussion centers on which pizza you prefer most and no pizza that fails to be considered a Godsend while drunk can be considered a bad or wrong style of pizza.

Looks like Little Caesar's Bigfoot pizza from the (late?) 90s.  Description is similar: airy crust, burnt cheese on crunchy edges, somewhat thick but not as thick as a Chicago Style casserole.

Actually, after following one of the links on that page, it looks like they're making it again, but with a different name.  Huh.  Too bad they're even worse now than they were then, or I might try one.

Of course there is more than one type of crust available in Chicago, but what you're known for is Deep Dish. Thin crust is available pretty much everywhere :)

OK, I'm just going to settle this:

Papa John's beats Dominos

Dominos beats Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut beats Little Caesars (unless you're on a budget, in which case the Caesar card trumps all others above)

(Insert your favorite local joint here) beats everyone else.

Are we done?

Looks like an awesome way to build a pie.  I like the idea of the stripes of sauce on the very top.  And a real bready crust.  I'd let you have the corner as I'm not all that into burnt cheese.

I just don't like Papa Johns.  The sauce has a weird sweet aftertaste and they changed the recipe on the garlic sauce that used to make the pizza halfway OK, but now it tastes like chemicals.
