(Twitter)   House Republicans set up a Twitter account to reach out to Latinos, "GOPespanol". Guess what language half the tweets are in   ( divider line

HeartBurnKid: Fuggin Bizzy: HeartBurnKid: People who can't stand the idea of pressing 1 for English

This has never made any sense to me. When you biatch about pressing a single button you might be lazy, entitled, and probably American. Seriously, Derpublicans?

I know, right?  I mean, I hate the phrase "first world problem", mostly because it's very overused, but if it were going to be used to describe anything, having to push a button to select a language would be it.

I think those are the same people that demand that 'English should be spoken' when they travel abroad.

Not everyone of Latino descent in the United States speaks Spanish

The GOP is history.

I wonder if they used this account to Tweet out complaints about Google's Chavez doodle.

/but Latino outreach isn't a scam!

It's about the same ratio of English to Spanish that basically every Spanish speaker I know in Southern California uses.  Sorry, subby, but the outrage-o-meter doesn't even budge with this one

Subby is not outraged. Is that not obvious?  Subby is amused.
Because this illustrates the central dilemma of the GOP: any attempt to appeal to immigrants or minorities will outrage some part of the base.
Is that not obvious?

This message paid for by the RNC

True story, although I think most of you won't believe it. While I was in the Army at my first duty station there were a number of spanish speaking soldiers in my unit that had convinced many others that "pendejo" meant something like "brother" "dude" or "friend".  My coworkers would walk around saying things like "Hola pendejo" or "What's up pendejo?" or "Como estas pendejo?". Heck, I'm from the southwest and even I started wondering if I was wrong about what it meant after a while.

SilentStrider: Infernalist: BolloxReader: Klingon?

If I had to label the GOP anything, it'd be Ferengi.

maagreed. The klingons are too honorable.

I was thinking Binar.

Worse than that, over half the tweets are about Pedro cutting back the hydrangeas too much and for Jose to please not use the leaf blower before nine o'clock Saturday morning.

flucto: All Latinos only speak Spanish? Who knew?

Its called GOPespanol, you'd think they'd focus on the espanol part.

Mrtraveler01: USP .45: OK, and the twitter page uses English and Spanish, yet you were outraged...sorry that's my lack of integrity were "amused" enough to post a non-story with a dumbass tag. So clearly you're "amused" with the lack of pure Spanish despite the bilingual nature of the audience, or something similarly petty. But hey it's your submission....SUBBY!

Looks like somebody has a case of the Mondays.

You have to admit that it's been kind of fun watching him flail his way through the thread.
