F*cking Bills.  Going after another worthless QB.  Thanks Buddy Nix.

I was telling my friend yesterday I'd rather have Jackson and Kolb than Sanchez and Tebow. And any one of the quarterbacks in the draft (Barkley, Smith and Nassib at least) has got to have more upside than either Sanchez or Tebow.

I still think that if you give Kolb at least a below average offensive line, he may turn out OK. The o-line situation in Arizona was beyond atrocious. Of course, Kolb might now be so scarred and jittery that he has essentially become David Carr.

I don't understand why teams go after Kolb. He never did anything in the NFL

I'd like to thank the Bills for removing Kolb from the available QB pool.

Just checking the stats from last season: Ryan Fitzpatrick took 30 sacks in 15 starts; Kevin Kolb took 27 sacks in 5 starts. That's not a typo -- he took 8 sacks against Miami and 9 against St. Louis.

So maybe if you put him behind Buffalo's line and their surprisingly good run game, he can do something with that.

//That said their D is still shiat.

Because the league is quaterback-starved.  There are only a handful of what we would call good-to-elite QBs available.  Any QB who has ever shown a modicum of talent is getting deals like this.

See Flacco (we'll see what he does after the huge contract extension),  Romo (see Flacco), Kolb, Vick, Flynn, Palmer (yes, he is over rated), Cassel, and about a dozen others that I cannot think of right now.

exhibit a, the steady drumbeat of "what will the Cardinals do to sign Carson Palmer?" coverage in arizona the last 3-4 days.  local sports talk can't STFU about it, and today;'s paper has all these scenarios of how it will happen:  "wehn the raiders deal for flynn is official, how many draft picks will the cardinals send, or do they wait for oakland to release palmer, lowering the price....and will palmer restructure his contract, as he's due $13M in base....."

carson palmer?  come on man.

If they can get even a 6 back for Palmer it might rival the original deal for him for the level of boneheadedness.  If they'd wait 2 days Oakland will cut him and he's all yours.

Given that our QB depth chart consisted entirely of Tavaris Jackson and some guy who won a contest, AND Kolb actually took an NFL snap in 2012, I'm ok with this. The Bills made the best of a bad situation. Johnny Unitas wasn't out there in free agency, nor is he available in this draft.

Now at least the Bills can look at BPA in the draft instead of reaching for a QB.

fair criticism;  7 seasons, the sum total of 21 starts, and a 9/12 record.

i wonder how much money he's made in his career.  the Buffalo deal is 2 years and described as "could be worth as much as $12M" in what i just read.

A 6th round pick isn't very much to give up in order to get the guy into your building and learn the playbook, work out, & practice with the rest of the offense.  If Palmer keeps acting like an ass, the Raiders can hold him until training camp is almost over and then cut him.

They might as well have started Jackson and saved their cash.

Kolb gets a raw deal. I think he could be good if he gets some protection

Matt Stafford thinks the Cardinals O-line sucks, as does any Bears QB the last three seasons. And they all wish Kolb the best of luck now that he has something they don't have: a real O-line.

They may as well build some talent for the future and hope they can get a development project in the third or fourth round.  It seems like any QB going in the top ten will be a stretch.

Was Fitzy really that bad?  I remember he would catch some serious INT bugs, but I thought he was decent??  Guess not.  I don't watch many Bills games.

Let me put it this way: Bernie Kosar had a better deep out ball.

Fitz just wasn't a long-haul guy. He'd start like a Pro Bowl lock, and then proceed to shiat the bed as the season wore on and the real contenders showed up on his doorstep.

The only thing worse than getting out of the Arizona Carindals would be the icy cold fingers of death.

The Bidwills are bums. Father, son, doesn't matter. They're low-balling, blackmailing, bastards.

Anyone who leaves their team has my admiration and thanks.

Yeah, the Bills will reach for a QB.  There's talk locally of them being interested in spaghetti arm Barkley in the first round.  In a QB weak draft class, Nix has made it clear that drafting a QB will be a priority.  What a genius.

I remember the stories of there earlier years in Arizona at Sun Devil Stadium. Among others, they were so cheap they charged players to wash their practice and game uniforms.

The Gordie Howe Hat Trick: I remember the stories of there earlier years in Arizona at Sun Devil Stadium. Among others, they were so cheap they charged players to wash their practice and game uniforms.

they had a shiatty deal with ASU on game day revenue and concessions and i think parking;  i recall a few lawsuits alleging that ASU reneged on promises to make stadium improvements.  so they were cheap bastards but they didn't have a lot of options due to little revenue.  when they jumped to their own stadium, they were able to open up the pocket book.  that's why the "the bidwills are the worst owners in the NFL" canard bugs me so much.  it was true but hasn't been the case for about 6-7 years now.  exhibit a, kevin kolb.  yeah the deal didn't work out for either party, but you can't say the team wasn't willing to spend money.

a story about the old cardinals and how frugal they were was - i forget the player - but he signed a contract with the team but noticed how a check was like, $20 dollars short.  he asked his agent to see what that was about.  Turns out the Cardinals had Fed Ex'd the contract to the player, and charged him for it.I heard the player tell that story on the radio once.  hilarious.  and sad.

there's another story of when the 49ers cut Joe Montana, he had a visit to ARizona and, while the story i don't think goes to being cheap, they drove to the team's practice facility but couldn't get in.  the doors were locked and despite being an official free agent visit, the team's own brass couldn't get inside the facility to make the pitch to Joe.

Thread is dead but yeah, I do know they (Bidwills) got jerked around a bit by ASU and the county officials. But the Cardinals have, by and large, sucked since the 1940's. The Bidwills are usually their own worst enemies. And I say that as a Cards fan. They're the Cubs of the NFL without the endearing "lovable losers" patina.

The thing with Kolb was a roll of the dice, trying to keep the success that Kurt Warner brought rolling. Didn't work, oh well.
