Sounds like he didn't make shiat and came up with a perfect way to cover.

He gets a lot more attention by doing this than if he had actually released the game, which probably would have been none.

/yes, it's real

Mega Shogi?

I think Mega Shogi would be smaller than the one I posted.

Taikyoku Shogi -- 36x36 board, each player starts with 402 pieces. Among those pieces are 36 pawns, two Royal pieces (pieces which can be checkmated -- in this case, a King which moves one or two spaces in a straight line in any direction, and a Prince which moves just one space), a third piece which promotes to a Royal (Drunken Elephant, which moves one space in any direction except straight backwards and promotes to a Prince), and over 200 other types of pieces.

It's a good game to play if you have about 9,001 hours to kill and don't want to play DIsgaea for some reason.

Sim Tree: I didn't know EA made board games.

No, no, if EA had made the game it would be released as quickly as possible, i.e. rushed out the door before they had time to implement everything and possibly half broken.  Several of the pieces and game cards wouldn't be included with the game, but would be available for purchase separately.  And the game board would have an arbitrary electronic component that required you to call in and get an activation code prior to each game to make sure you are the original owner and you are playing the game by the official rules.

And to ensure that nobody finds it before he's good and ready, Rohrer has buried the game and its rules in the Nevada Desert where even an organized search could take lifetimes.

We know roughly the size of the disturbance, and the purported region. I'd bet flying an infrared camera over the region would spot the anomaly in a week.

/Not worth my effort.

ParagonComplex: He makes the bold assumption that English won't be a dead language whenever it's found.

So what, they would just translate it to whatever they speak.

If they care about that game. I'd be surprised if anyone 2000 years from now would give a shiat about that game, with all the other artifacts just from our time period, they'd have to study.

Or he uses "rule diagrams," and I make the bold assumption the diagrams aren't in English, hence "rule diagrams" and not "rule words."

Anyway, title is wrong--game is playable now.  Story just says it won't be found for 2000 years.

2000 years in the future someone finds it, and uses it for scrap.
