This is not untrue.

They're both right. Lebron is a little biatch about the refs, and Ainge is a farking little weasel crybaby. Lakers beating Celtics teams in the 80s is one of my greatest memories.

I find this hilarious. But does he really equate 6th man on the bench guy with Lebron James, master of the non-call? Lebron likes to bully his way into the paint and he NEVER gets called for it.

Indeed on both counts, and I certainly liked seeing this back in '93 -

I saw this headline on espn and was amazed that espn summarized Riley's comments with such vulgarity. Then I read the story and saw that he actually said that. Very funny.

And, both Riley and Ainge are right.

Ainge's reply:   "I would say we're both right. LeBron should stop complaining. I complained as a player and I should manage my own team. We're both right."

The way I read it was that Riley released all of this through the team's spokesperson, which to me makes it that much better that he didn't just react off the cuff in a press conference. He actually took the time to send someone out to say STFU.

Fun fact: Danny Ainge went 0-for-2 on the losing end of Len Barker's perfect game in 1981, and was pinch hit for in the ninth inning.

LeBron gets the absolute shiat beat out of him on a nightly basis. He shots a lot of free throws, but he is fouled more than any other player in the league.

Griffin gets fouled dirtier and harder on a daily basis, and LeBron gets nothing like Shaq did, and Shaq kept his mouth shut most of the time.

My favorite Ainge moment was in the 1993 Finals when Scottie Pippen was in-bounding the ball under the basket.  Ainge was guarding Pippen's in-bound, but he had his back to him.  Pip simply bounced the ball off of Ainge's back and then proceeded to dunk it over him.  Ainge then went crying about it, for some reason or another, with that pouty face of his.

Good times.

No, no even close. LeBron is fouled more than any player in the league. Every time he goes to the basket he gets hit.

Until he didn't. LeBron doesn't really biatch either.

Fine. He doesn't get fouled at all and has no right to get frustrated. You're right.

Ainge's rejoinder is correct. Danny needs to run his own team, and LeBron, who went on a streak of, what, 15 games without a foul being called on him, needs to STFU about the officiating.  It's not hard.

I think it was 6 games. Largely because he doesn't foul a lot. And he wasn't complaining about the officiating. He was complaining that the rules encourage dangerous fouling, which they do. The officials called the fouls, the problem is the penalty should be much harsher.

For someone who supposedly gets as many calls as LeBron does, he sure doesn't get to shoot FTs for it.

Kevin Durant shoots fewer times per game, and far more often from the perimeter, yet shoots 2+ more FTs per game than LeBron. LeBron, in fact, shoots the fewest FTs per game of the league's top 5 scorers.

You're not sorry at all. So your "facts" are little more than half-truths.

I was in the stands as a young teen in the Omni in Atlanta  for the NCAA's when Ainge took the ball full court against Notre Dame with Kelly Tripucka and Orlando Woolridge (RIP). Ainge was a human bruise during that game. Outhustled everyone. Drove full court and shot the winning layup over the arms of Woolridge to win the game. It was awesome.

The other game featured Ralph Sampson and Virginia beating up on Dale Ellis and Tennessee. Ellis tried to cover Sampson, but at 6'6" he was mightily overmatched.

jaylectricity: So your "facts" are little more than half-truths.

Not really a half-truth that he takes fewer foul shots per game than any other player in the top 5 in the league in scoring, despite shooting more often from the paint than the others.

You're right, I'm not sorry I brought facts to the haters party. I'm sorry that people are dumb enough to still be talking about this, when there's really no debate to be made.

But they actually call fouls on Durant as well, so it all evens out.

umad: But they actually call fouls on Durant as well, so it all evens out.

They call one more foul every three games on Durant. Over that three game span, Durant will shoot an extra seven free throws.

And that's without considering that Durant reaches and fouls more often than LeBron does - LeBron rarely reaches in on defense; if the guy gets by him, he either tries to block it at the rim or lets the help defense take the guy and switches, neither of which are situations likely to draw a foul. You'll also pretty much never see LeBron slide in and try to take a charge, a call that often goes against the defender even when they do have position.

But hey, the stats and people who actually watch the sport disagree with you and your complete speculation based solely upon your own ignorance and stupidity. So it's pretty much par for the course, and your mind won't change when presented with the evidence to the contrary of your poorly-formed opinion.
